So the new album is out, the first one in I dunno how many years. Anyone else check it out yet? I'm digging it so far, not much has really changed. Ben's voice sounds the same, snotty as ever, and the band's playing is still tight. They're not reinventing the wheel here at all but it's good to hear them back at it.

Definitely a solid slice of pop punk, good production on it but not so slick as to ruin it. Clever lyrics, a bit of pissy attitude. Yup. It's all good.

Talk about pissy attitude, check this story (http://www.rocksound.tv/news/article/sxsw-ben-weasel-punches-audience-video) of their gig at SxSw.

Punchy pop punk!

Ha, wow. Punching chicks isn't really cool though. That probably wan't a good career move on Ben's part.

Unless those chicks were actually from texas - then it should be open season since they're not really "people" as you and I know 'em.

Teenage Bottlerocket just cancelled their Weasel Fest gig over this.

"Gee, Ben Weasel's still an asshole" seems hardly like news nor worth canceling a gig out of...

Yeah, he's always had a reptutation as a prick - I don't think he's ever punched girls in public before though. That kind of ups his game a bit in that regard.

Chinese Telephones and The Soviettes also dropped out already - the exodus continues. On a humours side, you should check out @FakeBenWeasel posts on this...

Oh snap! The rest of the band issued a press release (http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2011/03/screeching_weas.html#more) today and quit!

Saw that - good on them, actually. Maybe pick it up in another year or so but, yeah, not right now.

Again, tho', it shouldn't shock anyone that BW's an a-hole. Certainly doesn't make SW albums unlistenable or such and the new album's pretty good.

Ah, rock 'n roll...

So almost five months later, Ben Weasel issues this (http://www.benweasel.com/2011/08/12/welcome-to-the-carnival-of-schadenfreude/) rather mammoth statement on the SXSW incident.

And two months later, SW's got a new EP launching (http://www.punknews.org/article/44855) named after that blog entry. haha.

The former bass player of my other band (Severed) was an original member of Weasel and was on the first album...He did make quite a bit of money off of the re-release...

And Ben being a prick is 100% accurate...
