The most bizarre, other-worldly, cartoon-ish, insanely over the top prison movie ever made. This scene alone should seal the deal:

Oh yes, and this is a Cannon film with all of the expected Cannon tropes. Complete with some symbolism (maybe) with oranges hearkening back to Last American Virgin/Lemon Popsicle. You just know that Golan and Globus were hanging over the writer/director's shoulder helpfully suggesting he includes scenes with oranges... And midgets.

Watch this film.

Amazing movie. It's also one of the major missing titles on DVD and Blu.

I love that Mississippi has 3 directors associated with it.

Jim Hensen
HG Lewis-Taught at one of the colleges.
Jamaa Fanaka-Born in Jackson.

I want all of Fanaka's films on Blu Ray but would settle for good DVDs of at least the Penitentiary trilogy and Soul Vengeance.

I didn't even realize that this was directed by the same guy who made Welcome Home Brother Charles (AKA Soul Vengeance)! Now this movie makes a little more sense in that context.

Is there any chance VS releases it to complete the trilogy?

I'm pretty sure it's still owned by MGM but who knows?

It is still MGM and VS mentioned that Welcome Home Brother Charles is their last Jamaa Fanaka film so it doesn't look like we'll get part 3 from them.
