Megadeth Holy Wars...Punishment Due is for me their best album. There are songs from some earlier ones that I like better than any of the songs on Holy Wars, but every song on Holy Wars is awesome. Especially the title track.

Today I was bored and was browsing through On Demand music videos and they had this one on there. I was all excited, never even knew there was a video for it.

Four guys, shirtless, greased up, tight pants...not sure who this is geared toward, but it isn't me...the video is just stupid. Total disappointment.

I thought the album was called Rust In Peace or something? I dunno. This came out when i was in high school. I could never get past mustaine's voice, even though i thought that some of the music was good. The problem was I knew a guy who was such a RABID Megadeth fan, i got sick of hearing about them.

I hear that, man. They shred for sure, but Dave ruins it for me.

So long as you know that the correction suggestion wasn't made at the behest of a snobby metal fan. :todd:

My favorite of the Metallkica albums is Mteallica For Whom the Bell Tolls. The songs on it are no good buut they are the best of them all. I really like the title tracks, Creeping Death and the video for THE ONE, although its just a bunch of guys in a warehouse wearing the tiyght shirts and pants. Thet have penises. Whose the video for? Not me! I'm not a gay!

Oh, by the way Todd, I think that the video was called Rusted Pieces or something....i remember it was out on VHS, if you want to purchase this collection.

Also (trying to redeem myself here), there's a live version of the entire Rust in Peace album out now. I think there's a DVD to go along with it.

Early Megadeth is ok. I haven't listened to anything from the last 15 years or so though. It might be good. I just don't think I've heard any of it.

Rust in Peace and Peace Sells are both amazing thrash records, and they have a few good songs on other albums, but Mustaine is such a fucking asshole. He had Rotting Christ kicked off of a bill Megadeth was on because their name offended him.

Killing is My Business is an awesome thrash album too. I am not a huge Megadeth fan, but I do like those three albums, then some scattered songs. Yes, he is a dickhead, but so are tons of other people in the music world, like Kerry King. Doesn't make Slayer any less than whatever your opinion is them (which is of course the correct opinion). Lars Ulrich is a dick, but the first half of their library is great. Paul Casey is a fucking douchebag, but The Greg Brady Salad is rad.

I think Lars has come around. After the Napster business he lightened up quite a bit and hasn't been half as dickish in subsequent interviews. James is the one who bugs the shit out of me know. On that Big 4 Blu-ray there's some backstage stuff and the guys from Slayer clearly want to have nothing to do with him.

Lemmy seemed pretty happy to hang out with them on that documentary.

Ian Jane

And I say this because Lemmy is a good judge of character.

Kerry King is a big dink so that's no surprise to hear he wanted nothing to do with them. Conceited little fuck.

Lemmy is awesome. We should make a pilgrimage to LA to go to that bar he always hangs out at, jsut to get a picture taken with him and buy him a drink and some credits on the game he plays.

Yeah, in Get Thrashed, Lars seems cool, but Kirk is a sucktable.

Megadeth are great. Whether you like Dave or not (and lots of people don't, understandably, in most cases), you've gotta respect their music. They've consistently put out much better music than Metallica for about the last ten years, THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED being the best example. They seem to be having a golden age right now, and Mustaine, save for his attitude about a litany of things, seems to finally have his head on straight musically.

I've seen them each time they've rolled through Edmonton in the past few years, and each time, it's been worth it. Even when some clown threw a shoe and a water bottle at Dave onstage, they left the stage for about twenty minutes, returned, and ripped it up with "Mechanix" (If I remember correctly). The Dave of old would have pouted and not came back out and played any further. Like I say, minus Dave's sometimes idiotic musings, they are a tight band, and I enjoy their current output.

I strongly encourage you to check them out if you haven't in a while.

On a side note, I wonder what Mustaine thinks of Metallica's collaboration with Lou Reed and the album that's out tomorrow. Personally, I think it will either be amazing, or be the worst thing they've ever done. Hard to say.

Todd Jordan

I agree with Zane insofar as their consistency of good output. Mustaine's voice annoys me mostly, but he writes some great riffs. I'm sure I'll get it. I have all their other albums, and aside from So Far So Good So What I dig the majority of the songs on each record.

So I'm listening to the new Megadeth on Spotify right now, because free Megadeth is the best kind of Megadeth in my opinion. It doesn't seem like they're trying anything new here. Maybe a bit more progressive in some ways than the earlier thrashier stuff but so far this seems like pretty standard stuff to me. Never Dead is a pretty solid track. Mustaine still sounds like he has a cold when he sings.

Terry C

The stuff I've heard off of it (about 5 songs) are solid. Nothing mind blowing, but I'd probably buy the album.

Yes this is one of the pinnacles of Thrash metal, including their Peace Sells But Who's Buying album. Both never get old
