I'd file this under 'take it with a grain of salt' for now but Amazon has a pre-order (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057FGD2W/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=cognitrespon-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B0057FGD2W) up for this one. I haven't seen an official announcement of any sort yet and Media Blasters' website is useless.

Saw it years back and loved it. Looking forward to seeing it again.

Hopefully they throw in some extra features this time. There was a bunch of stuff included on the R2 release but the initial Media Blasters one was pretty much empty.

Will be interesting to see what materials they use. Fortune Star did a Hi-Def master, that was used for Joy Sales' R3 DVD release, but I'm guessing that one's probably getting on a bit now.

So delays and more delays kinda made me forget this was happening but Twitch has a review up, so it seems that this is out now.

No screen caps but it sounds like it might be a decent upgrade.

Honestly the extras on the R2 disc weren't that interesting. Nothing covers the Story of Ricky manga and no interviews or commentary by the director. The director fascinates me with his hyper ott style throughout his filmography.

One of my fave movies of all time. I've watched it countless times.

Would have been cool if they had, like Alex says, some extra feature comparing the original Manga (which I've never been able to find) with the movie. Would have loved that.

I hope you will review this, Ian. I wonder how i compares to my UK DVD.

I plan on ordering it later this month and will probably review it then, depending on my schedule. Media Blasters doesn't send us stuff, so any reviews of their products take a bit of a back seat to those companies that do - but it's on my radar and I'll get to it eventually.

Honestly I would just love to see an interview or something with the director. That guy had a crazy filmography and it's a shame he seemingly retired after The Cat.

I'd love to see that too but I've never come across anything like that. Too bad, he made some wacky stuff.

Review (http://www.rockshockpop.com/forums/content.php?2173-Riki-Oh-The-Story-Of-Ricky) is up. The transfer isn't good at all.

Sign of the apocalypse? RIKI-OH is on the TCM schedule (http://www.tcm.com/schedule/november2012.html) for November.

And following The Seven Year Itch, no less? Strange!

Anyone know what the deal is with the blu-ray? I hadn't realized there was a blu-ray until I read your review, but Diabolik doesn't have it, when I go to Amazon it just says "Sign up to be notified when this becomes available" and blu-ray.com lists it as having not been released.

Would definitely love to pick this up if anyone is actually...you know, selling it.

This is getting a Blu-ray release in the UK. Not word yet on if it'll recycle the shitty MB upscale transfer or not. Hopefully not.

Rumors (http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=258590&page=2) are going around that, since this was pushed back to July, the disc will be using a new supposed 4k transfer being done for Austria's XT Video.

Eh, 1080P, 2K, 4K, 10K, it all looks relatively the same to me. Give me a director's commentary. I'll drop $50 just for that.

Either would be an upgrade over the lousy upscaled Media Blasters POS Blu. I won't hold out for extras but would certainly welcome them.

I'm keeping my Hong Kong Legends release for the extras as I assume the UK BD release of the film will have different extras. If they're the same extras as the HKL release then I'll get rid of the HKL release.

I need a special feature that recreates the experience of seeing this for the first time.

Amen. Watching it with people who haven't seen it before is a nice substitute.

Watched it with three people last summer who had never seen it before and it did make it a whole lot of fun. They all went in completely blind not knowing anything about it. It was a blast.

Some DNR there but still a good step up from the shitty Media Blasters disc.
