Bought the whole series on DVD last weekend and my son absolutely loves the show. He's finally been willing to sit through Pee-Wee's Big Adventure in its entirity which he wouldn't before. I guess Pee-Wee LIVE on Broadway won him over. Anyway, it's been great revisting this show and remembering how weird and wonderful it was. Didn't remember how bad the computer animation in it was (not at the time, of course) and all the faces that were unfamiliar at the time but actors who went on to parts in shows and films I liked. Weirdest of all is Cowboy Curtis aka Laurence Fishburne. Funny since he's in such tough guy roles post-80s.

After watching almost all of seasons one and two, the weirdest moment so far...

GIANT UNDERPANTS!

What are your fondest memories of the show?

I disagree - I think the weirdest of all is seeing William Marshal (BLACKULA!) as The King of Cartoons. I remember having seen Pee-Wee before seeing Blackula and being a bit freaked out that The King Of Cartoons was playing the role.

Weirder still is that cult movie phenomena Ian Jane doesn't know how to spell Blacula. :haha:

I remember feeling that way watching Deranged (the Ed Gein one) the first time knowing that he was the next door neighbor from Home Alone!

This show really did have the best theme song ever. Eh-ver.

Cowboy Curtis asks Jambi for new boots, size 12:

Pee Wee - "Boy. Big feet."

Cowboy Curtis - "Well, ya know what they say Pee Wee; big feet...big boots"

Pee Wee nods, looks confused

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of innuendo that I wouldn't have gotten as a kid.

I like the fact that Pee-Wee would just take off at the end of each episode. Where did he go? Back to the house he has in the movie?

Yes!

I always thought it was funny that he didn't lock the playhouse up or anything and that he just left with a bunch of people still there (kids included).

I never understood why Pee-Wee let Randy in (or did he live there?). He was a jerk. I guess the point was to teach kids how to deal with bullies, but still. He should've made him leave. :hmph:

I got the impression that Randy lived in the walls or in a treehouse in the yard. He'd just kind of float down into a room or bust open a door with his little feet. Kid was angry.

Hugo should have lived at Pee-Wee's instead. Randy was just mean.

Ian Jane

I think Randy lived in a hole in the ceiling or something.

Randy was probably abused and left home, so cut him a break. He's a troubled youth.

Was Jambi a tranny?

He was also in UHF. He was R.J. Fletcher's son.

He's also in PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE. He's the dude in the BLACK HOLE style outfit with the high voice.

Well I still think Jambi looks like a transvestite.

Y'know, I don't think I've ever dressed up as a woman. Not even for Halloween. Is the first R!S!P! meetup gonna be in drag? If so, I'll practice.
