I think I got an email about this, haha.

Steven should register on here and have a thread posting updates. Or, you could start a thread so it won't seem like shameful self-promotion...

On a semi related note, it's a fucking scam that Aunt Peg's Fulfillment won AVN's Best Classic release over VXP's Blonde Ambition release. Aunt Peg wasn't really restored, had minimal extras, and got no love at all. Blonde Ambition was given a super deluxe special edition with amazing liners, tons of awesome extras, and a rock solid transfer.

I really don't understand how it didn't win. There was literally nothing else in the same league as that release this year.

Joe Sarno’s 1982, Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle Museum Exhibit looks for new home………

This is a one of a kind opportunity for a sex museum, university, film guild, or theater. This awesome exhibit was housed in the Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas for over 6 months in 2008 and is now available for exhibition. The exhibit is certainly unique and it boasts the ephemera that exists from Joe Sarno’s 1982 XXX blockbuster, Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle.

This multimedia exhibit combines rare artifacts from the archives, including mayoral permission slips, original contracts, headshots, receipts from cast/crew, blown-up production stills, wall mounted liner notes, life size Annie Sprinkle post-up stands, and a flat screen monitor with Annie commentary.

Please call me to take advantage of this rare opportunity.

All inquiries can be sent to :steven@videoxpix.com

Last week, in NYC, Distribpix’s in-house, adult film- historian, Benson Hurst, recorded a full length commentary with legendary director Radley Metzger, for his Henry Paris film, ‘The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann”. It was a very pleasant recording session…..very private, quiet and easy going. Benson and Radley discussed many aspects of the first of 5 films, shot by Radley Metzger in 1974, under the alias Henry Paris. The session was a full 83 minutes, the approximate length of the uncut feature.

Benson Hurst, the Brooklyn based adult film historian, will continue to work with the iconic Metzger to record full length commentaries for all of the Henry Paris films. All commentaries will be part of the re-mastered and uncut, Henry Paris films.

The first film “The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann”, will be released by Distribpix/Video-X-Pix in the Spring of 2011, more details will follow.

Anyone interested should check out the comparison screen caps Steven just posted on his blog from the new HD restoration of Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann here (http://distribpixblog.wordpress.com/2011/05/01/the-private-afternoons-of-pamela-mann-hd-screengrabs/) and here (http://distribpixblog.wordpress.com/2011/04/29/pamela-mann-hd-screengrabs/). What a difference, it's like night and day.

Todd Jordan

those screen caps look amazing, especially when shown in comparison. I'll be spending my dough on that one for sure.

Ian Jane
05-01-2011, 03:09 PM
For sure. I hope the other Metzger discs he's doing look just as nice.

Todd Jordan
05-01-2011, 03:11 PM
I hope this one is successful enough for them sales wise to encourage them to do more. I think restoration of dirty movies is something that gets overlooked. There's a lot of great stuff out there that doesn't get paid attention to and should. More so than some of the mainstream or higher profile shit that gets said attention.

Ian Jane
05-01-2011, 03:27 PM
Agreed. There are a lot of established classics that just aren't getting the love they should. VXP is doing great work and After Hours does some cool stuff but that's about it. The other guys with the catalogue titles just shit them out onto disc from existing transfers and don't care and, case in point this year's AVN awards, the industry doesn't seem to either.

Todd Jordan
05-01-2011, 03:34 PM
But Aunt Peg's Fulfillment was an amazing transfer and chock full of all kinds of great extras, surely deserving of winning the award.

Seriously though, it's going to have to be those who love movies and that genre (like the two you mentioned) who are doing it for the collectors. Thank God for them at least. I just hope enough of us support them so they can continue.

Ian Jane
06-15-2011, 11:51 AM
So I had dinner with Steve last weekend and apparantly Pamella Mann is more or less done and coming in July, with more Metzger to follow fairly quickly after that.

What is the soft version? Just the film minus the gun rape scene? or is it an actual softcore version? I've heard it mentioned that some of the Henry Paris films had alternate softcore cuts that included additional dialogue footage.

Anyway looks like my VCA disc is heading to coasterville.

Jimmy Simard
07-31-2011, 07:45 PM
It's an alternate softcore version. BTW don't forget the VCA disc have a commentary track from Eric Edwards (Veronica Hart is on it too) so it isn't an useless dvd yet (but he it's the only reason to keep it).

VXP is releasing Big Abner, remastered from the original camera negative and including the theatrical trailer as an extra, on 11/3/11.

Don't know much about this one other than that it stars Sonny Landham, Linda Lovemore, Bobby Astyr, Barbara Carson and Ginger Snaps among others.

Here's the cover art:

The newest VXP release:

"This is the first of 2 volumes, based on the life and times of Ron Jeremy, "the hardest working man in show business". He starred in dozens of films for Distribpix/Video-X-Pix, as a matter of fact he started his career making films for my father, Arthur, back in the late 70's and into the early 80's. Ron has very fond memories of this time in his life and remembers that these were "real" films, and really enjoyed working with this company and the stable of directors it represents. The best of the best!"

haha love the Ron trailer there, and his props for video-x-pix! I like that Vanessa Del Rio pops in for a second. Dvd looks like a winner, but that cover art ain't doing much for me. Looks pretty low rent. haha I'm pretty snobby about poor graphic design, I can't help it -- I'm an artist! ^_^

I'm sure the dvd is cool though. Haven't been disappointed with anything I've got from these guys.

Does anybody know what happened to the platinum elite disc of 'deep inside seka',i remember seeing it as coming soon in one of their catalogues but have not heard anything since

Also, this is not really important but...are the radley metzger discs a part of their platinum elite line or their own stand alone line? Not really important at all i know,i was just curious if they were going to continue using the platinmu elite cover template again?

Props to mr bougieman, the sleeve looks rad and i cant wait to get this,if its anywhere near as definitive as 'private afternoons of pamela mann' im going to be a happy boy

Does anybody know what happened to the platinum elite disc of 'deep inside seka'

Probably not in the plan anymore. Not a bad thing as I can't see why this would deserve a special treatment with all the important film they have. Also it isn't amongst the VXP titles I know are waiting for the Metzger's films circle completion to be release.

Also, this is not really important but...are the radley metzger discs a part of their platinum elite line or their own stand alone line?
Different lines. No mention of The Platinum Collection on The Private Afternoon of Pamela Mann cover (don't have Naked Came the Stranger yet but from the cover it will be the same, guess I will be sure in a day or two).

Got a lot of fondness for NAKED CAME THE STRANGER. I was lucky enough to see this movie in the theater the first time I saw it, and not a dvd projection or anything either. Film print! It was back in the day (2001) at the FOX porn theater in Vancouver before they switched to dvd projection. My friend Dmidtrui and I smuggled in some beers and doritos, and a couple of old gay dudes were blowing each other about 10 rows ahead of us. Good times! ^_^

A blog update here (http://distribpixblog.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/the-opening-of-misty-beethoven-major-film-restoration-underway-at-process-blue/) about the restoration currently happening for The Opening Of Misty Beethovan, due out later this year.

"The film elements that are being worked on for the upcoming release of Radley Metzger’s “The Opening Misty Beethoven”, are the 35mm hard and cool versions CRI, (which stands for color reversal internegative), the 35 mm trailer, and 3 reels of 16 mm silent PIX, containing never before seen footage from the Audubon archives, like deleted scenes, alternative footage and outtakes."

"The package is set to include both hard and cool versions of Misty Beethoven, along with Metzger commentary on the hard version, as well as an immense line up of video based extras, including an in-depth restoration feature, a locations feature, HD outtakes/ with Radley Metzger commentary, A tribute to Jamie Gillis, A feature on the film’s star Constance Money, multiple language subtitles, film facts track, and so much more! And don’t forget our amazing liner note books, available in each DVD. An exact release date has not been set, but it looks like it will be ready to go around May 2012."

"Stay Tuned for all new updates, including rumors of a B-Ray?"

Jimmy Simard
03-07-2012, 02:33 PM
Can't wait to have this one as it's my all time favorite and the last line tease us with a Blu-Ray... Usually I don't care and buy the DVD version even if I own a reader, but it will be hard, if not impossible for me, to not get the best movie ever made on BR.

Now if Steven would told us the release will have an interview with Constance Money and not just a feature about her I would by the BR and the DVD version without any hesitation. Yes the two formats because it would be just awesome...

Ian Jane
03-07-2012, 02:43 PM
I'm pretty geeked out about this one too, Jimmy. It really is the best of the Henry Paris movies, and such a great 'art' film as much as it is a great 'adult' film.

Just got this in the mail:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all of your wonderful feedback and support on the releases of "The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann" and "Naked Came The Stranger". Currently, we are in the process of restoring the original film elements of "The Opening of Misty Beethoven", on a 2k scanner, restoring and enhancing the original sound, and also delving into the out takes, deleted scenes and alternative footage that has also been scanned and will be seen in HD for the first time ever!!

The commentary with legendary director Radley Metzger for "The Opening of Misty Beethoven" will be moderated by Distribpix's lead project researcher and adult film historian, Benson Hurst. It is scheduled to take place in less than 2 weeks and we thought it would be a great idea to give the fans an opportunity to send in their own questions to be asked to Radley during the commentary, Of course we will only be able to choose a few of them.

It is very easy to send your questions to us:

You can post questions to Distribpix on Facebook, under the Question link for the commentary- you can post your question publicly or send a private message: http://www.facebook.com/distribpix (http://t.ymlp279.net/uwbaramsqhaxauqwafauwbu/click.php)

We will also have an area on The Distribpix Blog (http://t.ymlp279.net/uwhapamsqhaaauqwaiauwbu/click.php), for people who do not use facebook.. and they can simply post your questions:

We look forward to hearing from you!

This just landed in my inbox:

It’s a little known fact that in 1975 when Radley Metzger shot footage in Paris and Rome for “The Opening of Misty Beethoven,” he borrowed local crew and equipment to do so. Whether you missed the opportunity to be part of his crew because you missed the Metro when you stopped to tie your shoe or because you foolishly hadn’t gotten around to being born yet, you’ve been granted a second chance!

If you live in/near Rome or Paris (or will be visiting either in the next 3 weeks) and own or can borrow a camera or camcorder, you can show up 36 1/2 years late to the filming and be part of an extra feature on the upcoming special edition of “The Opening of Misty Beethoven”!

In return for taking photographs and/or footage from the same position and angle as the film’s crew in a handful of locations around the city, you will get:

1. A free copy of the upcoming “The Opening of Misty Beethoven” special edition.
2. Your name (or chosen nom-de-porn) in the credits of the feature or featurette in which your photographs appear.
3. A certificate proudly proclaiming that by virtue of your photograph appearing on a disc containing pornographic material you are, by the commutative property of ill repute, ipso facto a Porn Photographer who worked on “The Opening of Misty Beethoven”.

On April 1 st, we will select one lucky photographer from each city, giving special preference to those with good cameras and photographic skills (with bonus points awarded to anyone willing to debase themselves or their friends by dressing and posing in place of the stars of the film). Street addresses and reference photos (both then and now) will be provided and stills or footage must be submitted to us electronically on or before April 15.

Just e-mail your information and qualifications (such as they are) to distribpix@gmail.com before April 1 st and we’ll let you know if you’ve been chosen!

The Distribpix blog has been redesigned. (http://distribpixblog.wordpress.com/)

And on that redesigned blog, Steven mentions this regarding Scorpio 70:

"Currently under restoration. The full film has been scanned in 2k resolution, and is currently awaiting digital restoration. Starring a young and brunette, Jennifer Welles, this is an excellent example of American Sexploitation from one of New York’s greatest young directors of the early 70′s. Solid cinematography, decent plot, TOMBA, makes the film!!"

The new blog looks good.

I'll post some screenshots from SCORPIO soon.
The film has grown on me. The theme song "You're Making it Hard (to say goodbye)" kinda sounds like a Bob Dylan impression, only it's actually James Taylor!

S.O.S. has also been scanned from the 35mm camera negatives! I never realized until we started it that it was shot by the same dude who D.P.ed SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (and SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE BATHS).

We have been reading for months about how Distribpix have been working on restoring many, many films but where are the releases? I know these things take time but it seems like such a long time since Barbara Broadcast (wasn't that their last great release?). I have been jonesing for Through the Looking Glass and Angela the Fireworks Woman for such a long time, especially since I read that they had them restored last year.

When can we expect to see more releases?

I did ask Steve on facebook about Through the looking glass, as I agree that is the most anticipated. He didn't say any dates but he did say that a lot is coming very soon. What very soon means is anyones guess. But He seems to have a lot to take on. Barbara Broadcast took what seemed like forever from announcing to actual release, and if you remember the HD restoration on Maraschino cherry was also talked about what seems like a year ago.

So far their releases have been beautifully restored and fully uncut. I know Angela has quiet a few "controversial" scenes so I can only hope it will be unedited as well.

I couldn't agree more. I didn't mean any disrespect toward Steven or his company. I'm simply anxious for his next release.

I have bought all of their releases in the Platinum Elite Collection as well as all of the Radley Metzger releases (gave $100 to Project Misty). "The last few years has been very challenging on my independent archive and releasing company. I have had to adapt to many changes and continue to deal with this everchanging marketplace. While I have continued to research, document, preserve film and grow my sexploitation film archive, I still face the challenges of a small market, very tough competition, and an unstable future for home video. Now, as I am working with a new distributor, I hope to have a more normal release schedule, where I can focus more on the archiving, preservation and production. Interesting to read what Steven's intentions might be and whether to bring the 3 remaining Paris films to blu. I personally hope he decides to do it, but I understand much better now the challenges he has faced. I personally would be happy with a 3 disc blu-ray collection with no extras if that is the more cost effective way of doing it.

It's softcore, Distribpix released a number of softcore films since they've been around since the early 60's. I'm guessing the commentary is by either Jack Bravman, Ed Adlum or Raf Mauro (probably the latter since neither Bravman or Adlum really talk about their films).

I spent a stupid amount of time on this review (http://tinyurl.com/3ewh3pl).
Great review.

This part stood out to me:

Also of note on the first disc is a ‘music subtitle’ track which, when enabled, provides a text commentary that details the use of the music in the film in easy to read yellow text on the bottom of the screen. Not only does this point out what library tracks are being used here and where they came from, but it also provides biographical information for the people who wrote the tracks. It’s a very thorough study of the music in the film, something that would have been very easy to overlook but which is actually quite interesting once you sit down and start getting into it. This isn’t just a rundown of what’s used here but an insightful mini-history of the use of library music, where it came from, why it was used, how it was used and the historical significance of certain portions of the score – if you ever wondered what The Private Afternoons Of Pamela Mann had in common with Swan Lake and Spongebob Squarepants, this will answer that question for you.
Does the BARBARA BROADCAST dvd also have a ‘music subtitle’ track?

Reason I'm asking is, for over 30 years I've wondered about the musical score during the bondage scene between Constance Money and Jamie Gillis. There are three pieces sequenced together to score that scene:

"Dosier" by Brian Bennett and Alan Hawkshaw, for about the first 30-35 seconds
another piece, dark and rhythmic, mostly drum & bass with the rest of the band joining for dramatic fanfares
"The Big One" by Alan Tew

What's that second piece??

Thanks

I am glad to see these upcoming Command Cinema releases, but I hope it doesn't mean Distribpix, will ignore the films they already owned, and were planning to put out, as many of their own films are as good or better than Command Cinemas films, films such as Roommates, Through the Looking Glass, Tigresses, etc.

I certainly wish Distribxpix would hurry things up just a bit in general. I know these things take time, but their output in the last few years has been very small, so getting this Blu-ray announcement months ago, it's fairly disappointing that it still has yet to materialize.

There was a time when Distribpix could do no wrong. Those remastered Henry Paris titles amongst others were awesome. The Misty Beethoven Blu-ray was immense at the time, and was shortly followed by the equally amazing edition of Barbara Broadcast. it looked like great things were to follow. I was singing high praises that Steven had put so much time and effort into releasing these (after all he is a one man army isn't he).
I get the impression that he was severely burned out after that, considering the Barbara Broadcast Blu-ray didn't sell that well in relation to production costs. I know they have released a few titles to dvd since then, but I feel that since then Vinegar syndrome have really taken up the challenge and have grown to an extent where they are becoming very difficult to beat. I sincerely hope Distribpix once more rise from the flames and produce some really great packages once more. The announcement of Blue Sunshine hasn't really wetted my appetite, but I know one day some awesome things will come. At least I hope.

I also get the impression, a bit like Don at Synapse, that Steven really takes his time and is in no hurry, but the end product usually is excellent.

Fundi
02-07-2016, 08:42 PM
I think the reason Barbara Broadcast on blu ray might have not sold as well as Misty Beethoven is that Distribpix kind of cheaped out on the blu ray, they didn't release all the content on the Barbara Broadcast dvd's on the blu ray version like they did with Misty Beethoven. The Barbara Broadcast blu ray was a BD25 and didn't have all the content of the DVD's, whereas the Misty Beethoven blu ray was a BD50 and contained all the content on the DVD's. I mean that's just my opinion. There's no reason all the content on the Barbara Broadcast DVD's couldn't have fit on a BD50 disc, like they did with Misty Beethoven. But I hope for some good stuff in the future with Blu ray release from Distribpix. I really don't put too much faith in them to release the things they promise though, I mean over the years they just issue these "updates" about all these things they say they will release, but then years go by and nothing ever gets released. I mean it's great that Distribpix has this museum full of films, but if they aren't going to share them with the world, what's the point of having them, and teasing us with some possible release at some undefined point in the future.

I'm a friend of Steven Morowitz on facebook and trust me guys, he is hard at work. In fact, he has not posted anything on facebook in a long time due to him being busy on so many company related projects. The issue is he, like Don May Jr. of Synapse Films, wants to release quality products and that often means that it might take some time to finish. Also, keep in mind, Steven, like Don( yes, I know he has a partner at Synapse Films), is practically a lone wolf when it comes to running the company. We will eventually get excellent blu ray versions of "Blue Sunshine" and the Cecil Howard titles. A little patience is needed.

Just to let everyone know, Steven has recently posted a response on April 30, 2016 on the Distribpix blog. When asked about the Howard titles and the rest of the Metzger/Paris films( i.e."Naked Came the Stranger", The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann", and "Maraschino Cherry") on blu ray, his response was "Yes, all are in the pipe, for sure, Scoundrels first. The others will follow quick". I honestly don't know if Steven meant just the Howard titles for blu ray or the Howard titles plus the rest of the Metzger/Paris titles on blu ray. Regardless, like I mentioned a while ago, we have to be patient and ultimately we will get rewarded with all his hard work.

Any word on Scoundrels? I'm guessing it won't be ready shortly after the new year as said back in November 2015 lol in fact I'm getting a 4K TV, so a blu ray is going to be out of date when it's finally released, they might as well just make this release a 4K UHD blu ray release.

There is no way a 4K UHD release would make money for them. There are barely any mainstream films in that format and not many of the players have been sold. Blu-ray discs still look fine on a 4K set (DVDs look like shite though).

Little Oral Annie sucking cock in 4K might sell some 4K UHD players though :)

At the cost of mainstream 4K releases I doubt an adult one would sell 100 copies.

It's not a matter of what the discs cost consumers, but how much it costs to produce them. Given how young the format is I imagine licensing and production costs are through the roof - Blu-Ray is still expensive enough that companies like VS and Distribpix have to carefully choose which titles are going to sell enough to be worthwhile, and some smaller companies like Second Run in the UK are only just putting out their first Blu-Ray releases now.

Besides, the uptake for 4K as a format right now must be miniscule, limited to early-adopters and enthusiasts only. I seriously doubt there'll be many people in that category who are also vintage porn fans. Even if Distribpix put out a 4K release, in the event it made any money it would probably still be selling significantly fewer units than Blu or DVD with similar or reduced profit margins. And that's if it does well. If it doesn't, it'd be a huge chunk of money down the drain.

does anyone know if Distribpix will offer a 4K download for sale of Scoundrels? I ask this because they are restoring the film in 4K, but if it's only on blu ray and dvd it will not of course be in 4K, but damn I'd love to be able to buy a 4K download of Scoundrels. I loved their HD release of Inside Little Oral Annie from AEBN.net. I wish they'd release more of their films on AEBN.net in HD and 2K/4K versions. I actually would prefer that to DVD/blu ray releases, and it would make it easier for Distribpix to get their films to market, and for the fans the films would be in much higher quality video and audio versions.

4K, as far as home video goes, is sadly stillborn. The userbase won't be there for another physical format, at least not to a large enough market to make it a viable option for smaller labels. Sure, Sony will try to push their new films on the format, but hoping stuff like Golden Age porn or anything even remotely interesting that isn't a major Hollywood studio production, will reach the format is just wishful thinking. Even BD came too late in the game to get the mainstream audience, the only thing keeping it afloat now is us cinemaphiles. Your average people don't care about quality. To them Netflix is fine, look it even says it's in HD!

We will probably see applications for 4K TV technology in video games in the future, but I'll be very surprised if the disc format takes off. And 4K downloads, yeah maybe, but if I can take a guess It'll still be compressed as hell and comparable with BD upscaled to 4K. Kind of like how many hard compressed BD rips look like good DVD upscales. A 4K scan downscaled to BD 1080p looks amazing, but it you want true 4K video you're talking about file sizes in the hundreds of GB. It's not practical (yet). And for small labels it'll probably never be profitable.

why would you need 4K downloads in the HUNDREDS of GB's? a 4K blu ray discs is 50 to 100 GB in size? why would you need a HUNDREDS of GB's size ddownload? And those discs that are 50 to 100 GB have lots of extras as well. I think 4K discs will catch on, maybe not this year, but Blu Ray didn't catch on for a long time too, look how long it was before classic porn was first released on blu ray, was 5 or 6 years. When more and more people start getting 4K TV's, they will start picking up 4K disc players too when their old DVD players break and they go down to the store and they see the new 4K Blu ray players in the stores. I think 4K is going to be about as high of resolution as TV's can go, because 4K is equal to 35mm film, any further resolution gains will be pointless, sure they will make some changes and improvements always, but the 4K resolution is about maxed out. And the reviews I'm reading is that basically there is no benefit in 4K resolution over HD resolution, it's more in the HDR color improvements in going from 8 Bit, to 10 bit color. And some other improvements. I have seen 4K in the stores, and they do look awesome. I am not getting one until the Christmas sales start, and that's only if they have a good price on one, if not I'll wait for the 2017 models next year to see if they make any better models at a better price. 4k is still new, and it's improving every year. I must say though that eventually everyone will have a 4K TV, I mean I guess you could reject technology and stick to your CRT TV or something, but movies are my hobby, so I like to see them in the best quality I can, but I am also reasonable about it and won't spend huge sums of money on my set up, I rather spend that on the movies. I tend to wait till the tech is perfected and I'm waiting to see how this HDR 10, vs. Dolby VIsion sorts out.

Well a 4K Ultra HD disc is not the raw 4K scan. A full 4K transfer of a 90 min film source is 6TB of data. So the hardware companies still have many more generations of new and fancy tech to sell us. Also, resolution wise, to capture all of the resolution of a 35 mm frame, you need to scan in 6K. What I'm trying to say is that seeing Ultra HD discs as the end station for quality, is simply wrong. Ultra HD discs are heavily compressed from the 4K source scan.

they show movies in the theater in 4K, you need more resolution for your TV, than they use in a movie theater?

No, but you don't actually need 4K for your tv, unless it's over say 100". You have to sit with your nose to the screen in order to see pixels, and who does that? There are other advantages to 4k tech, but all I'm saying is tech companies will always try to sell in new and "better" stuff. If 4K tv is actually the last stop for consumer electronics, nobody would upgrade their tv every five years and Sony, Samsung and all the other tech giants would go out of business. There is no end point, it's the primal force of capitalism, the motor that keeps us consuming.

In my simple mind, since you can fit a 1080p film plus extras on a 50GB disc, then a 4k film would need at most 4 x 50GB =200GB disc? And I think they achieve that now by dual layering the discs. Or maybe I am wildly inaccurate. I don't read much on this topic.

4K discs use HEVC encoding it's much better than the H.264 they use on Blu rays, that's why you can get a much better picture even if you use a 50GB discs that is used for a blu ray.

They have created new discs for 4K...66 GB or 100 GB and a new codek to encode them with.
Like Blu's, these 4K discs will hold a file a fraction of the original's size....it is pretty amazing technology.

Pretty much every theatrical release is mastered at 2K.....4K's real advantage is to preserve the material for current and future use.
As a home consumer product, I can't see it really taking off, as the majority of consumers are fine with DVD's.

Thanks, yeah I was misunderstanding some of the earlier posts, I wasn't taking into account compression I guess I was unaware of it.

Not sure if it will take off either mind you I laughed when they brought out Blu rays but I gradually succumbed..

4K is the future, that being said I still buy DVD's, and I don't have a 4K TV yet, but plan to get one soon. I will still buy DVD's and blu rays even with a 4K TV, if a movie I like is only on DVD, I'm not going to deny myself watching it because it's not on 4K, that'd be stupid to not watch a movie just because it's not on the newest format. But I don't like streaming and will never do it, it's too much trouble I tried it out, and di not like it at all. And if the movie world goes all streaming, I will probably not watch many movies, I'll just watch what's on regular TV. The problem with streaming is you have to subscribe to each movie company to get the films you want, and you end up with subscriptions all over the place costing way more than cable TV. And my internet has been sold to a new conglomerate or whatever you want to call it, and is about to implement bandwidth caps, so yeah streaming is not even an option for me anymore.

Whatever happened to the alleged first Blu-ray from Distribpix Little oral Annie. I cant remember why that never came to fruition. I just stumbled upon the hd screengrabs on the Distribpix blog from 2010 and they look great.

I bought the download awhile back and it looks fantastic! Don’t know why the release never happened. If they ever do release it on Blu-ray I will definitely double dip.

Not releasing Through the Looking Glass is the one that disappointed me the most!

I also remember reading in an article/interview that they had scanned and restored Angela the Fireworks Woman... another HUGE disappointment!

It seems to me that both titles would sell like hotcakes!

It seems really mysterious that between 2010 and 2018, we know that there have been various restorations on various projects at Distribpix. Some of them have been touted for either blu or dvd or both, and yet only 2 (if we don't count the Command cinema releases) blu-rays and a small handful of dvds have seen the light of day. We know that Through the looking glass went missing, or so was communicated some time ago, but what are the reasons behind the others? Steve seemed realty optimistic about these projects and publicly. I cant imagine it necessarily being the decline in physical media sales as VS are doing alright for themselves with their adult titles. I would love to know the reason.

I don't know, remember all the great boutique labels we use to have? All gone except for Severin. BU and MM are still around but comparatively quiet these days.

I believe VS uses the horror and exploitation titles to keep themselves afloat. I've seen some VS fans on FB assume that VS uses the adult titles to just make money but from his interview on Porn Cultures podcast it is clear Joe Rubin's heart is in the gutter with the rest of us.

In the absence of any of these getting restorations, I'm thinking about picking up a couple of older video-x-pix titles, namely "Delicious" with Veronica Hart and "Female athletes" with Annette Haven. My question is are these at least good in their presentations. I've put off buying so many of the Distribpix catalogue namely due to the fact that so many of the Vs and new Distribpix restorations look so good, that anything else would put me off watching now.

I have a copy of Female Athletics somewhere. If I remember correctly, like most of the earlier Distribpix DVDs, it's taken from an analogue source and probably watermarked during the sex scenes - but watchable.

I checked out the screencaps on adultdvdempire and for an older release don't look too bad. I'm tempted. But saying that I revisited VCX remastered release of Desiree Cousteau's Deep Rub last night and couldn't get passed the first 10 minutes due to it looking subpar.
