You are still hyping this record? You really are obsessed.

It is pretty good, though.

I've only heard it when in your car, but I dig it. Probably not something I would listen to on a regular basis though.

I think it's awesome. I should try and get it on vinyl, just found the soundtrack to Tinto Brass' Nercosubianco on vinyl yesterday.

I bought it, and listen to it from time to time. I thought it was one of the best 10 releases of the year last year.

Yup. To the point where I've tracked down and downloaded 3 or 4 live audio performances and two videos. They're rad cause they've got a few tracks that aren't on the album.

Over and above the great music, it also has a great case. I love the ultra-technicolor die-cut card sleeve. I'm a sucker for awesome packaging.

It IS musically awesome, and Patton is amazing on it, but it's a little TOO "Patton"-y for me to completely embrace it. It's not that I don't believe his sincerity in loving these pieces (and his taste is exemplary, from Sparks to Gainsbourg to Morricone), but there's that little bit of irony in his delivery that always chafes me.

Not to be a downer!

I think it's okay to have a little bit of irony in this case though. Some of the originals aren't meant to be taken super seriously anyway - Deep Down being a prime example.

Nola's voice is sexier to me. That goes a long way!

I can't really argue with you there.

And, in all seriousness, I think it's a great record, and again, his singing on it is amazing, no one else I can think of in my relative age group could pull it off. Any issue I have with it is purely personal preference.

You should hear some of the live stuff, his voice sounds just as strong. I know there was probably a lot put into the production on the album, but to pull it off live too? Pretty impressive.

I think the DEEP DOWN clip was what piqued my interest in the first place, is there an avi of that show floating around?

Ian Jane

Yes there is and it's not hard to find.

Well, that was easy! I'll grab this later today. Hello, flashdrive! Nice to see you again, USB port!

I expect a full report once you've properly digested it.

I wish Patton would bring the live show Mondo Cane thing to NYC.

Would love to see that. Sadly he doesn't seem to tour the US much. Even with Faith No More they had only about 4 dates here.

Patton is a genius. He has a massive following here in St. Louis oddly enough. He and Sammy Hagar. :(

It just goes to show you have less interesting things going on there than we have here.

Is Patton intentionally going Bobby Peru?

Ian Jane

I think so.

Good interview with Patton here (http://www.news.com.au/news/mondo-mike-is-harvesting-energy/story-fnejnl1p-1226455983946) in which he confirms that there is no more Faith No More material coming but that there is more Mondo Cane stuff... but that he just has to 'get off my ass and do it.'

Nice to see Patton coming out with ANYTHING new.....He really is one of the most versatile and strong singer....

While TOMAHAWK is a little more commercial sounding than his other stuff, it's still great to see him in action and I like the song!

I actually really like the Tomahawk stuff so I'm ok with this.
