View Full Version : Why Does Amazon.Com Even Bother?

Attempting to, and doing a piss-poor job of, listing the aspect ratio of their films? I used to use amazon as a resource to make sure that the movies i was buying were in the proper ratio before purchasing, but the last bunch of reviews I've done (for which i check amazon for release dates) have had the wrong ratio....using 2.35:1 for 1.66:1 titles, 1.78:1 for 2.40:1.

If you're going to sell a product, wouldn't you want to make sure that you've got accurate details? If I buy a laptop or something and it says it's got an Intel i7 processor, I'm gonna be pretty pissed if it turns out to be an i3.

Get your shit together, amazon.com

The distributor/publisher provides the metadata to amazon, it's not like Amazon researches anything. Which I guess is even worse, since it's the company that made the product that doesn't have its facts right. Publishers are usually pretty clueless and aghast at the shoddy state of their catalogue info, now that it's so important and public: it might even get fixed if you can figure out who to report it to (maybe Amazon feeds corrections back to their suppliers).

You're right, that is even worse. I take it back, then.

I wrote Amazon just the other day. I asked them why they don't list that some of the Something Weird discs are DVD-Rs. They told me the same that Barry said above and gave me a $5 credit.

Of course it's possible to submit the good details to Amazon so they publish the correct information. I do it sometimes with Amazon Canada when I had a dvd in my hand.

You must be good at typing with one hand.

Lousy double post bullshit. This wouldn't've happened if Todd gave Baz the $2.50.

I was going to give it to orphans, but you're right, let 'em arm their own selves.

Orphans need to learn that life isn't always easy.
