View Full Version : found a collection of vintage porn mags.

I bought a storage locker at auction last week and began digging through stuff. Shamefully hidden in a box of little children's toys was a bundle made up of several grocery bags. Inside was a vintage collection of old porn mags in surprisingly good condition.

Most of them are from the early 1960's to early 1970's. They are raw, explicit and desperately in need of a good airbrush artist.

Several of these are the first issues and I was wondering if they have any value, and where I would even begin to sell them.

Any guidance would be appreciated, I need to make my money back from this locker.

Also on a side note, I can't use ebay, they wont let me sell anything there.

Sorry don't know anything about the magazines but I have to ask what's the story behind buying a storage locker? They just auction them off blind and then it's a lucky dip as to what's inside?

hmm, I replied to that but I don't see it up.

ok lets try that again.

They normally auction off storage lockers that are 30 days or more overdue. Most places wait more like 6 months but they don't have to. Normally they open the door and allow everybody to look inside. You are not allowed to enter the unit OR touch anything in any way. You can use a flashlight if its dark. You then start bidding on the unit based on what you can see. In most cases all you can see is an old mattress turned sideways so its concealing half the unit, and a dozen or so boxes. I swear 2 out of 3 units have an old stained mattress in them. Allot of times things are covered in tarps or blankets. So there is always a certain amount of guesswork.

This unit had about a dozen boxes that contained mystery items. But these are the ones I bid on. I do this for fun and the more "surprise" boxes the better.

So far in about 6 months of doing this I have broken even. The unit the porn came from is so far making me just under what I paid for it so It would be nice to unload the porn. However I really don't want to list it all individually on craigslist and then show it to a few dozen people. I would rather find a buyer who resells the stuff who can just buy up all of this collection for a fair price. By fair I realize you have to make money too, so I am not expecting full street value.

This person assuming he doesn't scam me will then be my go to person for any future porn collections I stumble on. To be honest there is allot of porn in storage units. Most of it is in terrible condition and not very old. I have thrown out at least 80 mags in the past year. Virtually every unit I buy has porn in it. Or vibrators, that seems to be pretty common too.

I keep what I like and resell everything else on my site for between $4 and $12 a magazine. The 3 issues of Sex to Sexty I won't be able to move, so you may as well just keep them or chuck them out.

Assuming none of them are missing any pages and aren't horribly water/spooge damaged or mouldy or anything, I'll give you $60 US for the lot, including shipping to canada (Which should be about $20 by my guess). So you would be getting roughly $40.

Or, conversely, you could go get your own ecrater store and sell them there. I'll probably buy a couple if they're priced right! ^_^

Guess he found a buyer somewhere. Hope he made his money for the unit back!

I was going to mention that he should take the damaged issues that can't be sold and chuck them off the bridge by the creek to help the local pervert kids.

That is how I saw my first porn. I think that may be one of the defining differences between the two generations. How you saw your first porn: In the woods, or on a computer screen?

sorry for the delay I have issues. I run to many businesses.

Anyways, I accept your offer, the stuff means nothing to me, but in the very brief look at shipping costs I couldn't do better than $30 to Vancouver. There is a new shipping store that just opened up down the street, I will pack it all up and take it in there and have then run me a range of prices to ship.

As for throwing the poor condition mags out where the locals can get them, I would be creating quite a mess. The shredded issues with no covers and mangled pages out number the good ones 10 to 1. Most of them are a mag called Barely legal. Not that I looked at them all to notice the names mind you.

Let me pack it all and see what that store can get me for a rate before we go any further.
