This kinda flew under my radar. Apparantly someone has taken the footage that was shot for the never completed Sleepaway Camp IV sequel (it was included on the AB boxed set if I remember correctly) and added to it to finish the movie. And now it's coming out on DVD.

Fangoria has an article on it here (http://fangoria.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2695:sleepaway-camp-iv-completed-at-last-exclusive-poster&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=167). There's more on the Sleepaway Camp super site here (http://sleepawaycampfilms.com/?p=752).

I dunno how they're going to use new footage to mix properly with older footage shot two decades ago but I am mildly curious to see how this will turn out.

Weird.

I do not really have very high hopes for this.

As usual with these things, none of the original people who made the first one (or even the sequels) entertaining were involved in this.....*sigh*

I'd rather see a completed Grizzly 2: The Predator.

I did a little research and it seems like it's just a clipshow... Who the fuck would watch a clip show? Not even the Puppet Master diehards liked The Legacy. Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2 at least had an amusing as fuck 3rd act. Not to mention Garbage Day.

I saw the first one twice (!) in the theater...loved the weird, mean-spirited atmosphere and of course, the killer ending. The rest of 'em are junk imo.

I think Part 2 is the best of the franchise. It has that Scream quality where it parodies the genre, but it's not obnoxious with it and it's genuinely funny. Plus the characters have a lot of depth for a Slasher. Bruce Springsteen's sister makes a good post-op serial killer.

FIRST one was good...then the ending knocked it out of the ballpark....
SECOND one was a good re-start to the series...a well made slasher in the scream vein...but made by people who understand the idea!!
THIRD one was still ok....but not on a par with one or 2.....

RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP was enjoyable..not great but entertaining enough for fans of low budget slashers...

NO HOPE for this one if it is a a clip movie!!!...

I really hated Return (part 4) The acting got even worse but the one strength the original film had is that it had a cast of actors who were of that age. The acting was bad in the original, but kids act like that in real life, so it kinda' counter balanced the bad acting.

Return consists almost entirely of a cast that looks like they're in the late 20's or early 30's for some of them... Not to mention that the slashing was pretty uneventful, the plot isn't interesting, cgi gore, no likeable characters, and amateurishly shot. And why the fuck is Isaac Hayes wearing his Chef costume? Terrible flick.

I agree that the third one was okay. It definitely had it's moments but they ran out of ideas about half way through and it seemed like they couldn't get the effects guy to show up for half the shoot. It's one of the only slashers I can think of where a majority of the kills are done with a stick.

LOL...you just listed the reasons why I loved part 4!!!

Actually, come to think of it...I think I liked this series more than most because each sequel was substantially different than the others (in both a GOOD and BAD way!!).....

Haha....you just reminded me of how I felt when i was watching it.....like they ran out of ideas and the Special Effects guys stopped showing up!!!

I can't believe someone uploaded this to YT and it has a million hits. Check out the five o'clock shadow on the fat kid who's supposed to around 14 and is taller than the adult characters.

Not even Slaughter High went that far into the suspension of disbelief.

Thing is, they MUST have realised all these things as they were making it.....which means it was (possibly) done intentionally...Which makes me enjoy it even more....In fact, i think I will watch it right now.....will let you know if my opinion changes after viewing!!

Really? I just remember part 3 as being part 2 but with different kills.

I feel so cheated by this review. It starts off with the line "This is my review of my opinion of the completed project" but then just becomes a review of the film that reads like it's been put through the babelfish. No self analysis here at all.

I never got that impression though I can see where you're coming from. To me everyone seemed like they were playing it straight. The actors in say Part 3 were hamming it up and knew what kind of film they were in. I didn't get that impression from Return.

Hehe, I noticed that too. I was hoping for something more introspective.

In RETURN it seemed like the FILM MAKERS knew what kind of movie they were making.....but told the actors that they were making a serious movie....LOL

From FB:

"SLEEPAWAY CAMP 4 COMING TO BLU-RAY! It's true, for those wishing to complete the saga on their collection (there's still one more yet to hit blu-ray, but we have no control over that one). The DVD is now on moratorium as we commence to completely recompile the movie, from the campground up! The new edition will the "final cut", be in hi-definition remastered quality and contain new extras. This long-lost sequel combined the original trilogy into one feature jam-packed with hidden easter eggs & revelations for the eagle-eyed hardcore fans - not to mention all 30 death scenes in a cavalcade of carnage, Angela-style! At this stage, we're looking to gage interest so we can determine the number of copies we do for the run, so if this is something you're interested in purchasing - LET US KNOW HERE! If you're not interested, no need to let us know - we understand, you need to save up for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. Note: Cover art TBD."
