I run the Facebook page for the company I work for (Fabick Cat). I took on the task in January of 2012. At the time we had 231 "LIKES". I have increased our "LIKES" to almost 4000 in just 2 months. But this has proved to be a lot more work than I first imagined. I am also the Video Producer here but when I see stuff being done wrong I want to fix it. It is a trait I have that really fucks me up some times. I get myself in over my head quite a bit.
Anyway, anyone else run a Facebook page for a big company? Do you have any secrets you can share for success?

I run a facebook page for RSP. We have 34 likes. We are hitting the big time.
I get a lot of traffic from Facebook though. Twitter too.

Can someone explain to me what good it does to have someone "like" the company? It drives me nuts when companies beg for people to do that. "Like us on Fakebook". Fuck you. I'll "like" you by buying your product. If I don't buy your product, it's safe to assume I don't like you.
I just don't understand the whole thing. Oh a fuck you for "poking" me. If you're not going to poke me for real, don't bother.

When you like something on facebook, updates appear in your facebook feed. This increases the liklihood that you'll click on whatever link or update appears in that feed and that, in theory, drives more traffic to your page or heightens awareness of your product/service/whatever. It's all marketing.

They need a "hate" button.

It's all how you leverage your followers. I have weekly giveaways, contests and promotions of sales events. Also, the metrics that Faceook provides you really helps you market your company. For instance, my company is expanding and adding some satellite locations. We have used the Facebook metrics to help figure out the best locations for the stores. The metrics were part of an equation but they were still used nonetheless.

I thought it said "Ruining a Facebook page." I was going to suggest letting Toidd update it.

I'm good at ruining threads, so yeah I could ruin a Facebook page just as easily.
