Creedmore Psychiatric Hospital

So when Todd was visiting a few weeks ago we wandered around the grounds of the partially abandoned Creedmore Psychiatric Hospital in Eastern Queens out towards Long Island. Parts are still in use, large portions are not - there aren't any no tresspassing signs around so you can more or less just wander around without having to worry about cops or anything so long as you're not causing problems.

The place is weird. Strange people, more than likely patients, will wander by and give you the eye and just sort of zone out - we saw a few people out behind some of the back buildings enjoying a 40oz'r and it just has sort of a seedy feel. It's a weird spot. These pictures are all of the outlaying buildings, the empty ones, not of the main part of the hospital.

Nothing fancy or artsy here, just some quick point and shoot shots of some creepy buildings...

That last picture makes it pretty clear why we didn't try to get in the buidlings - that and the activity in the area, but mostly the asbestos and stuff. I don't mess around with that crap.

Once had a training at an active but old fashioned mental hospital. Really eerie place, it was a bit maze-like and would think that might contribute to some problems for patients. They also had a museum in one room that had old tools and restraints they no longer use -- the crib was not fun looking.

Yeah, but if you look through the window, you could see a lot of it still there, hanging off of pipes and stuff. Nasty shit.
