An inside look at the decision process behind what was a MIDNITE MOVIE and what wasn't. Got this from The Classic Horror Film Board (http://monsterkidclassichorrorforum.yuku.com/sreply/823066/Sony-licenses-250-titles-to-Mill-Creek). There's a person who frequents it that works at MGM. Very enlightening:

"It was mostly a case of the executives in charge now knowing the titles. MGM's in-house producer and I made a number of suggestions and just when we had won the trust of the person in charge of the Midnite Movies and were able to exert a small degree of influence--she got promoted and a new person was put in charge of the line. The new person's first batch included INVASION OF THE STAR CREATURES/INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS. That was a pretty clear sign that once again we had someone who didn't know the movies.

Another issue was that sometimes masters weren't ready. It took a long time to get the remaster of WITCHFINDER GENERAL done; if it had been released a few years earlier, it would have been the U.S. cut with the replacement score. Similarly, every single time they asked for suggestions I would bring up TWINS OF EVIL, VAMPIRE CIRCUS and HANDS OF THE RIPPER, but for a long time we had no masters for those titles."
