From their Facebook page:

Achtung ladies and gentlemens and turdz in general, this is IT. The wait is over, after five long years. The new Turbonegro album is called (...drumroll) "Sexual Harassment" and will be out all over the world on June 13th on Volcom Entertainment (and Universal Music in Norway, Sweden and Finland). Thou shall be harassed. The 1st new track, You Give Me Worms, is up on Spotify and it sounds pretty good. It's up on Amazon too (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZMDSP0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=cognitrespon-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007ZMDSP0).

I dunno, it just isn't Turbonegro with a new songer.
BTW, Hank von Helvete is proof some people really shouldn't stop drinking and taking drugs. It might turn out they were boring, conservative middle aged men all along.

Hank's post Turbonegro stuff is pretty dire, I agree. As far as carrying on without Hank, I agree he was a huge part of the band but there were a couple of vocalists before he came on board - I dig the recordings they made with the pre-Hank guys, and so I see no reason not to give the new stuff the benefit of the doubt. Given that Re-Tox wasn't very good and that Hank went out on a low note rather than a high note, and given that I like the first single, I'm pretty stoked for this.

New drummer as well, from what i'm hearing....

Edit. Yup, new drummer. How much of the original band is left?

But the real question here is... is the new guy gonna stuff firecrackers up his ass?

New album is up for pre-order on iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/download/).

Seems weird to me that you can pre-order mp3s, but whatever.

You don't want them to sell out!!

I think that already happened when they appeared in Viva Le Bam.

I meant the mp3s.

It was a joke.

I like both, but crass tends to escape first.

There's a pretty amusing interview with Happy Tom and Tony Sylvester that just popped up here (http://austinist.com/2012/11/14/prancing_with_the_stars_an_intervie.php).

Pretty funny interview. I did pick up the new album a few weeks ago - due in large part to your positive reaction to it. It's actually my favorite of the post-Dudes era I think. It does indeed have more in common with Ass Cobra than most of the glammy stuff of the reunion years. It holds up from beginning to end way better than any of the other reunion albums. I like a song here and there on those - Drenched In Blood, All My Friends Are Dead, etc. but they are weak as a whole. This one might shoot its load early - I Got A Knife - but it has some cool tunes deeper in too, like Dude Without A Face.

Toldja so! It rocks! :)

Catch'em live with Tony fronting if you can. They still kick all kinds of ass.

Wow...that guy has zero charisma...and they built a whole video around that personality void.

I like the voice still but you're in Turbonegro, dude. Live it.

So that black metal book I'm reading (Black Metal Evolution of the Cult) mentions in passing in the chapter on Emperor that two former members of that band (Samoth and convicted murderer Faust) play in a "death punk" band with Casey Chaos (Amen) and Happy Tom! The band is called Scum and they've actually been around since 2002 or so. Have at least one album out - Gospels For The Sick - and there's some videos on YouTube. A mix of black metal and hardcore...anyone have the album? I'm tempted to track it down. Not a huge fan of straight-up BM aside from a few bands but this ain't bad from what I've heard so far.

Ian Jane
02-24-2014, 01:50 PM
I've got it and I dig it. It's an interesting mix of psuedo-traditional black metal and the Turbonegro death punk sounds. If you like what you've heard in the youtube clips you'll probably enjoy the rest of the album.

If you use Spotify throw 'gospels for the sick' into the search bar and you'll be able to stream it there.

Andrew Monroe

I don't use Spotify but I like what I've heard well enough to track down the album I think.

Speaking of Happy Tom side bands, I wish the guys who did The Vikings would do another album...Go Berserk is fucking great. Still play that a lot.

Ian Jane
02-24-2014, 03:31 PM
Agreed. That gets regular rotation in my place too. It's a lot of fun.

Dude Without a Face is my favourite song off of the album. I haven't found this in any of the local music stores, except in vinyl format...but unfortunately, import vinyl is just as ridiculously priced as it ever was.

Mark Tolch

I preordered it...shipping was actually pretty reasonable, so with the conversion and all, it was 35 bucks CAD. And if i've learned anything, it's that a guy with a fistful of Turbonegro records can retire with those records, because they only appreciate in value

Don't get me fuckin started. Lee's Palace isn't even acknowledging it, so now a bunch of folks are trying to figure out how to get our money back.

Ian Jane
01-15-2019, 05:35 PM
Did you buy the tickets directly from them or from a ticketmaster-esque 3rd party? When HOF cancelled I got my refund through the ticketmaster-esque 3rd party not the venue.

Mark Tolch
01-16-2019, 08:13 AM
Ordered through ticketfly.com, who are saying no refunds because it's "postponed" not cancelled.

Ian Jane
01-16-2019, 09:46 AM
That's a bunch of bullshit. The venue here said hold your tickets or get a refund, which is the right thing to do.

Mark Tolch
01-16-2019, 09:56 PM
Lee's finally just said that it's postponed, and refunds available at point of purchase, which Ticketfly are denying. Like I want to take the chance that they're gonna let the guy with the heroin conviction in a second time. AND, the show is in August, which means it has the potential to clash with Ian and Alison time.

Ian Jane
01-17-2019, 10:34 AM
That and the fact that the fucking government shutdown is wreaking havoc with visas and what not... it's risky to just wait.

Although, if he's playing in TO while we are in Ontario...

Mark Tolch
01-17-2019, 12:20 PM
Yeah, I'm of the same mind on that risk. And that's a helluva drive haha.

Toyboy
01-17-2019, 01:51 PM
I was trying figure out why you guys weren't so keen on Hank (besides the cancelled/postponed tour) cuz I don't particularly care for Turbonegro's current front man, plus I think that what I've heard from this new Hank solo album is decent, so I searched him on Wikipedia to see what was up and I read it...

...Scientology.

Yuck.

Mark Tolch
01-17-2019, 04:28 PM
Yeah, I'm not big on his personal life at all. His new album is about 70 percent good, and I'm also not super-stoked on Tony.
