Bloody Disgusting just put up this article (http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3160516/wtf-black-kiss-ii-banned-in-britain-permanently/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter).

Apparantly rather than risk incidents with UK customs and obscenity laws, Diamond UK has opted to not carry the book, which was initially held due to adult content.

The article rightly makes the case for digital comics in this case, as apparantly you can download it in the UK with no problem.

I didn't even realize this had come out already. I remember when Chaykin's original series came out and they were direct sales only, sealed in polybags. I still have a set of them somewhere. Great art, cool and kinky story. Nutty stuff, I dug it.

Apparantly the first issue's first printing is sold out already.

I was 14 when the original came out. So I had to get my older cousin to get it for me. Wanted it mainly cause by then I was a huge fan of Chaykin. Mainly thanks to American Flagg.

I was working at a comic shop when the first one came out and my boss would always sample the polybagged adult comics when they came in. He completely freaked when he saw that there was a shemale in the series and decided not to stock them on the shelf. People had to ask for each issue and he'd feel the need to warn them of what was inside. Meanwhile, he didn't give a care who bought Wendy Whitebread or any of the creepy Barry Blair "elf" comics.

With that said, the first Black Kiss is great so I've been looking forward to this new series. My shop had it prominently displayed, unsealed. When I purchased mine I asked the manager "You know this is completely filthy, right?" and he replied "Dude, you think kids actually come in here to buy comics on a Wednesday night?"

I flipped through it at the local shop and it was a lot more graphic than the original. It looked good, but I will wait for the eventual collection.

Same here, shemale or no shemale.

I remember the comic store in my neighborhood getting in trouble for selling adult books. Before it happened, the sleazy dude who ran it would sell anything to anyone. After the incident, you had to be over 18 to buy anything with even a mature readers warning on it. At the time I was under 18 and was really into the Green Arrow stuff that came out - Long Bow Hunters, etc. My mom was cool with my having stuff like that, it wasn't pornographic or anything, and so she wrote them a letter saying I was allowed to buy it which they kept on file. As new titles came out, I'd occasionally bring my mom into the comic store, let her look at them, if she was okay, they'd go on my 'ok to buy list' held at the store.

I don't know why I'm telling you guys this.

Controversy seems to follow this title, it's now been removed from the Comixology mobile line due to content.

This kind of reminds me when I was younger, there was this used book store in Regina that sold old issues of Heavy Metal. All the classic issues from the 80s were discounted to like a $1 per issue, so I'd wind-up buying stacks and stacks of them with my dad, who just thought they were typical fantasty/sci-fi type fare. Well eventually my mom was cleaning my room and took a peak through one, next thing you know- my Heavy Metals all disappeared from under the bed.

Until a few months later when I found a couple of them stuffed in my dad's sock drawer.
