Anyone anticipating Andrew Lau's new flick? Read it was originally supposed to be a remake of the Shaw Brothers "Flying Guillotine" but has since been turned into something else. Here's the trailer where you can briefly glance the titular weapon at around the 0:52 mark. Looks like a lot of CGI & explosions and probably not much substance as far as the story and plot are concerned. Well Go USA has apparently secured the distribution rights for North America.

It'll probably wind up being an overcooked exercise in style over substance but I'll watch it, if only out of curiosity to see what they do with the concept vs. the Shaw movies.

I'm disappointed in the weapon itself. I wish they would've kept the original premise with the flying guillotine leashed with a chain and the blades retracting with an iris effect. This new one looks like something out of PREDATOR. I'm half expecting Gary Busey and a cow to be cut in half.

Agreed, but this could still be fun.
