Anyone else listen to this yet? Giving it my first listen right now, I know I'm a bit behind. I was never a hardcore Swans fan. I always appreciated them and understood why so many adore them the way that they do but despite admiring the fact that they definitely cut their own path, others seemed to get more out of their music than I seem to.

I'm digging this new album though. It's got the right mix of ambience and noise and rythm and choral arrangements and just flat out weird noises to work.

Also, I like the cover.

I really dig this one and the previous album as well. Saw them live last weekend and they were fantastic. They played non-stop for almost two hours. Very loud and cathartic.

Cathartic is a good way to describe this album. It's almost hypnotic in spots.

Gira consistently puts out the best music on the North American continent.

Rape allegations against Michael Gira?

He denies them.

Crazy stuff.

I came across this article today about Gira that is pretty interesting:

I'm a fan of the first few Swans releases & his book, "The Consumer". I'd LOVE to see the drawings J.G. Thirwell mentions in the article!
