From Fangoria (http://www.fangoria.com/index.php/home/all-news/1-latest-news/7790-trailer-tidy-up-qmamaq-is-coming):

"The Guillermo del Toro-produced film looks to continue the long line of frightening matriarchs. In Andres Muschietti's feature debut (based on his short film of the same name), "two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their parents were killed are rescued years later and begin a new life. They soon find that someone or something still wants to come tuck them in at night, however."

MAMA stars a fairly transformed Jessica Chastain (dig that punk'd up mom look) and GAME OF THRONES' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (who's quite great in this year's Norwegian crime thriller HEADHUNTERS)."

This looks slick, I'll give it that. Very nice camerawork. Not everything Guillermo Del Toro touches turns to gold but enough of it does that I'm more or less always interested in his latest projects even if he's just producing it.

Anyone make it out to see this yet?

I'm curious enough that I'll give it a shot once it's released on DVD or Blu-ray.

It's getting some seriously mixed reviews - a lot of people complaining that it has some great imagery but plays to cliches.

I'll wait to see this after it's left the theatres, the reviews do say it's too cliche but it could still be fun.

What's with UltraViolet being given away as a freebie in so many Blu releases?

Watched this over the weekend. "Mama" herself was too heavy on the CGI and shown too much but there are some effectively creepy moments here and there. The ending went where I wasn't expecting it to. I'd say it's worth a rental.

I dug it too, though I can see the ending dividing audiences. I thought the two young girls in the movie were both very good actresses and I liked a lot of the imagery and ideas behind this.
