A Facebook post by Slasher Video, the guys who recently put out Death Nurse, indicates that they're working on DVD release of Boardinghouse (long out of print from Code Red) and Death Nurse II.

I still need to get the first Death Nurse disc... anyone have it yet?

They also uploaded this clip which may be from the extras on the Boardinghouse disc...

What? Was Code Red's so sought after to warrant a new version of the (awesome) clunker?

God the music is AWFUL. But Jim the Landlord is in it so all is good. I'll bet they filmed that video at the same time as the "movie". Same pool.

It's been out of print for a long time and goes for some good money - so I'd imagine there's some demand for a reissue.

They should get the Cinema Snob involved with the release of Death Nurse 2.

2 hours and 40 minute director's cut? Hmmm....overkill?

About three hours too long for me...;)

Gary, you're missing the beauty of that which is this piece of poop.

I suffered...I mean sat through a dvd of it last year and it was just painful. It was like getting a rectal exam from Captain Hook.

Maybe its nostalgia for me. I watched it so many times as a teenager. A real life changer.

So it seems this will be a new transfer with some correctional work done to it to improve the quality of the image.

From Facebook, some shots of the two versions on a monitor (not screen grabs, obviously).

Another update....

"So I am going to challenge myself...starting boardinghouse from Scratch beginning next week. Having to travel for commentary, interviews, rendering, music mastering, art, producing both regular & directors cut w/ tom, etc. I am giving it a release date of 5//01//2013. I will post progress daily so everyone can see the initial process to the final product. Hope everyone likes a ton of posts & updates cuz there will be a lot."

"Great news for the BoardingHouse dvd...I will be including the original version of BH which will be remastered, and also the director's cut version, but it will have the very rare alternate ending."

Update: "Slasher // Video announces they are releasing a never before released 2hr 40min directors cut of BoardingHouse with tons of deleted scenes, which will also include the original 33 1/3 soundtrack within the extras and tons of new special features & a brand new commentary!"

I just ordered the Code Red disc now that Bill's put a few copies up. Maybe that's dumb.

I can't believe that any sane person in the world would want to watch that for that long... 1h39 was more than enough for me, more than that sound like a cruel punishment.

Yeah, I kinda wanna get this and watch it all the way through just to say I did.

Boardinghouse is actually one of my favorite SOV horror films. I thought it was very easy to watch.

That's the best cover art I've ever seen.

I was ready to do that at the end when I've watched that "film"...

Todd Jordan

Jimmy, I get the sense you are not a fan of movies that are so bad they become immensly enjoyable.

Jimmy Simard
05-08-2013, 05:01 PM
Absolutely. As I've wrote a couple of weeks ago for me the concept of bad movies becoming good because they are awfull doesn't exist. A bad movie is a waste of time certainly not a good fun time. I just don't understand the concept...

Todd Jordan
05-08-2013, 07:05 PM
It all depends on what you find entertaining. I find it entertaining to watch a movie that you just KNOW the filmmakers were all proud when they handed the finished product over to the distributor, but it is less than stellar stuff. Like in Doctor Gore, when the scene clapper is visible for a good number of seconds, or someone throws a midget down the stairs to stomp some bad guys. For me, that's entertainment. I see it as no different than someone who loves romantic comedies, for example.

A bad movie with no entertainment value is a bad movie and I agree, its not a good time. But bad movie that makes me laugh, giggle, snicker, want to share with others....that to me is a fun movie.

Jimmy Simard
05-08-2013, 07:40 PM
But if you have fun watching them they aren't bad movies. By exemple a supposedly bad movie like Manos The Hands of Fate (I don't think it is one, just a victim of bad recording equipment) is a fun time because the film is entertaining so it's a good movie for me. But on the other hand if I watch something like The Sorority that bored me to death, and believe me it was painfull to watch, this is a bad movie (it doesn't became good because no one in this can act, everybody is ugly as hell and the effects cost probably less than 1$ to do).

You can get a copy for less than 2$ (http://www.amazon.com/Sorority-Nicki-Buggs/dp/B000ION2F8/ref=sr_1_17?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1368056270&sr=1-17&keywords=The+Sorority) if you want to see what is bad, but even that price is too much... Imagine you would be sure to review the worst movie ever reviewed here with that

Double fucking dip. I might even double-double dip so I can have both covers facing out at the same time.

Holeeefuck. The two hour and thirty eight minutes verion is brain meltingly great.

You need Landlord Jim's intense stair. You dont have that, so you may as well give it up.

Ian Jane

This is sad but true. I do have a leopard thong banana hammock though. And a pink tie I can wear loosely around my neck, all dreamy and casual like.

Todd Jordan

I spelled "stare" wrong. I was thinking of Landlord Jim's hair. And his thong. And the redneck saying "shee-it".

Anyone in or near Seatlle might be interested in knowing that a 35mm print of Boardinghouse is going to be playing tomorrow night at The Grand Illusion Cinema.

Shouldn't it be shown on a VHS tape?

The screen there is so small you kind of get the same effect anyway.

Shouldn't it be shown on a VHS tape?

That depends on your point of view, I guess. Obviously it was shot on tape but when it had its original theatrical run, it was transferred to 35mm for projection.

It probably looked like complete ass.

Are the other films (DEATH NURSE I, II, CEMETERY SISTERS) worth the purchase? I have a BOARDINGHOUSE and like it for what it is. In fact, I have the Code Red DVD also! Goofy film, but it has a certain weird charm.

I happen to really like Nick Phillips' stuff, so my opinion can't really be trusted but I'd say that Cemetery Sisters and the 1st Death Nurse are definitely worth $10 a piece... but they are BAD.

Another one from the Slasher // Video FB page:

"BoardingHouse: The original Grey Xbox Platinum Hits cases are out of print, Only about 50 remain. After those sell, they will be in a clear case."

So again, if you need the nifty limited edition case (and you probably don't but you might), get moving.
