Watched this one last night, made in 1993 starring Seth Green, Alfonso Ribeiro and Clint Howard.

It's stupid, but hard not to like. Clint Howard is a pot farmer whose plant steroids somehow infect the local tick population just as a multiracial group of troubled teens show up for a week in the woods with two adult chaperones. Ticks bit people and burrow under their skin and explode a lot while Clint Howard mutates and people hallucinate.
Pretty awesome old fashioned 'latex and paint' effects work by the KNB guys, a story that gets more or less right to the point and some decent moments of humor. Corny, gory and brainless, this movie is still a lot of fun. I hadn't seen it since it was a new release on VHS but it held up well.
The Olive Films Blu-ray looks okay, kind of soft but clean and colorful enough. Sounds good too. No extras outside of a commentary track with director Tony Randel and actor Clint Howard.

I vividly remember this coming out on VHS over here! It's a fun little film, if I remember correctly. Did it get a cinema release in the US? It was straight-to-video over here.
I wouldn't mind seeing it again; I may order this new release.

I don't remember it playing theaters but I was living in a smaller town in Canada when it came out - no way did it play Niagara Falls, Ontario, I can pretty much promise you that.
I can post some caps from the Blu after work tonight if you want, Paul.

This scared me when I was a kid. For a time I thought ticks could actually burrow in our skin and explode into giants.

Fun B flick that proudly wears its B. Great practical effects work, mildly likable characters, unintentional hilarity, Clint Howard, Brian Yuzna-esque giant tick monster mutation. One of those movies that was on pay cable a lot when it came out.

I'd like to see this again (it's been a long time - not since it was released on VHS), but don't really want to dump the cash on it. Olive doesn't appear to deal with Netflix, either. Same goes for a few of their titles, especially THE QUIET MAN (which I've never seen). What a frustrating situation...

Thanks for the screengrabs, Ian. Looks good. I may place an order for this when I get paid at the end of the month.

Great film and it's just as fun to rewatch today as it was back when i was younger.

Watched this again last night because, as Alison said, she hadn't seen it and it just seemed like a good time to bust it out even though I'd just watched it a few weeks ago. Enjoyed it more or less as much this time around as I did on the first revisit. I was also convinced that the guy who played Jerry was Rance Howard and only realized after we looked it up that Rance Howard actually played the cop. Oops.
