The director of the original Ring has got a new horror movie in the works, Twitch writes it up here (http://twitchfilm.com/2013/01/first-teaser-for-nakatas-the-complex-heralds-a-return-to-form.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TwitchEverything+%28Twitch%29 ).

"Nursing student Asuka (Atsuko Maeda) has just moved into an apartment complex with her parents and younger brother. On the first night in her new room, she is awoken by a strange scratching sound coming from the apartment of her neighbor, a reclusive old man who has refused all attempts at communication. Concerned over his well being, Asuka enters his home only to find him dead from malnutrition. Worse, it looks as if he had been trying to claw his way into her room.

Asuka learns that there have been a number of strange deaths in the complex over the years from Shinobu (Hiroki Narimiya), the handyman cleaning up the old man's apartment. Even the girls at school whisper rumors of it being haunted. When the late night scratching returns, Asuka ventures back into her neighbor's home and comes face to face with an apparition of the old man!

Panicked by the discovery of her apartment emptied and her family gone, Asuka seeks help from Shinobu, who brings in a spiritualist to exorcise Asuka of the evil surrounding her. However, as she delves into the girl's predicament, the spiritualist discovers that signs points not to the old man but to a small boy living in the complex with a past as tragic as the one Asuka herself lives in denial of."

I WILL be watching this one....

I am up for anything Hideo Nakata has directed...He knows how to build the tension and atmosphere in a Japanese style....RING, DARK WATER, CHAOS , KAIDAN are all great.....(I will forgive him L CHANGE THE WORLD though!!..Probably because his hands were tied on that one.....

Want to see The Incite Mill (2010)...supposed to be good....

It is another in the style of BATTLE ROYALE mixed with RED ROOM (but no very nasty bits).some people are trapped underground and forced to play games to survive..or something similar....Based on a novel

Also,he was featured in the documentary on director Masaru Konuma, who dedicated his life to Japanese soft porn, SADISTIC AND MASOCHISTIC ...and that was good too!

You've got SADISTIC AND MASOCHISTIC with English subs?

Wasn't that included as a special feature on the "Wife to Be Sacrificed" DVD?

Reviews are starting to trickle in as this plays some festival dates. Twitch gets it up (http://twitchfilm.com/2013/01/iffr-2013-review-the-complex-is-a-decent-fright.html):

"Nakata Hideo's The Complex has a very creepy first half, a thrilling second half, and a good beginning of its finale, but shoots itself in the foot with some silly effects that deflate much of the tension. Still, The Complex is the best genre film Nakata has made in years. If you are fed up with J-horror after the many, many Ringu-clones, this one will not change your mind. But if you still enjoy the occasional, better J-horrors, this one certainly belongs among them."

Ok...Just finished watching it....

Was a decent movie, very well acted and good, interesting story with lots of twists in the story.....but then kinda shoots itself in the foot at the end!

dont expect anything along the lines of RING kind of horror....Its more of a supernatural drama than a straight out horror. This one is a slow builder with an eerie atmosphere that has some interesting turns along the way.....Not sure what happened at the end..they went a bit EXORCIST 3 with it in that the movie was perfectly fine up to the end then someone said "hey we need a big finish!

It is well made and definitely Nakata's strongest film for a while....
