According to the OFDb, last May (2012) a German company released an anamorphic, uncut version of this fun-filled, joyful ode to the Richard Speck murders - a wacky, downbeat international co-production. I've only seen this film via crappy VHS-sourced grey market versions and would love to get my hands on this German disc. Does anyone know an etailer who stocks it?

Ta!

I'd also be curious to know more about this. We have this version:

The transfer is awful and it has an annoying audio defect on it that makes the whole thing fairly difficult to watch. I don't think we ever finished it, actually, because the quality of the disc was complete crap. I'd upgrade if the import proved to be worth it.

Just checked, Ian, and D&T have it, but it's quite expensive: http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=46874 I'm not sure if I want to drop that kind of cash on the off-chance that it's a good release. I'll have a think about it ;)

Ouch. Yeah, after postage that's more than I want to spend on this. At least the D&T listing says it's got English audio.

Maybe if Diabolik gets this in at a fair price...

I've been wanting to see this movie for a long time, but haven't bothered because all the available grey-market releases looked so shitty. Hopefully a cheaper option will become available -- if so, I'd snap it up.

Just sent Jesse at Diabolik a message about this. Lets see what he says.

The info mentions 88 min for the run time...this is several minutes longer than what I have seen, and that's without accounting for PAL.

Ouch. Jesse can get it at Diabolik but its $31 plus shipping.

I'm prolly going to do it though because I'm fascinated by the idea of a Speck-inspired film and this one has had nothing but shit releases until now.

Dang...I really want to pick that up, but that's pretty pricey and I'm pretty broke so I may have to past (especially without knowing more about the quality of the disc.)

Horace, if you order it would you post some screencaps when you get your disc in so we can see what the quality is like?

I found a German film forum where some people who own the disc said that the transfer is pretty good. It's anamorphic, apparently, and has a few minutes of footage inserted from an inferior (VHS, I think) source - at least, according to what I read.

I bought it. I'm unstoppable!

Actually,if Ian will post the screencaps I'll do a full review for RSP! if he's cool with that.

Good man, Horace! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

I may buy this myself when next payday swings around. Can't justify the expense at the moment.

Nice caps, Ian :) Yep, really pleased with that disc too. It's a great presentation of a neglected film, imo.

Loved this film when I watched it on one of those grey market multipacks. Might have to plunk down the cash for this better quality version.
