New York, NY (February 14, 2013) – Soul Temple Records announces the release of Twelve Reasons To Die, the new album from Ghostface Killah and composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Adrian Younge on April 16. Twelve Reasons To Die is a brilliant and daring crime/horror concept album. This is the third release from Soul Temple Records, a company whose mission is to release quality music coupled with packages engaging multiple elements of the creative community.

Ghostface’s long-time Wu-Tang collaborator The RZA acts as executive producer on the groundbreaking album which melds the sounds of classic 36 Chambers-era RZA with Portishead, and the Italian film music of Ennio Morricone. The album will be available in various configurations including a standard CD, a deluxe double CD with instrumentals and a mini comic book, plus a digital deluxe version with instrumentals and digital comic book, multiple vinyl formats and a cassette. To visually flesh out the dark and gritty world of Twelve Reasons, Soul Temple Records has partnered with Black Mask Studios to produce a 6-issue comic book series and collected graphic novel featuring striking visuals and an intriguing dual-narrative structure with contributions from a host of stellar comic book artists.

A National tour is currently be routed for Ghostface together with Adrian Younge and his live band, Venice Dawn, which will commence March 14th at SXSW and run thru early June hitting all major US markets. Tour dates will be confirmed and tickets will go on sale later this month.

Ghostface Killah’s prominence in hip hop has grown steadily over his 20-plus year career including recent high-profile appearances on Kanye West’s Cruel Summer, the critically-acclaimed soundtrack to RZA’s film The Man With The Iron Fists and the new Wu-Block album. Twelve Reasons To Die catches the gifted MC at the height of his lyrical prowess, and to celebrate this album announcement, Soul Temple is offering a free download of the first single, “The Rise of the Ghostface Killah.”

Adrian Younge represents the next generation of black music producers. Twelve Reasons is Younge’s first project immersed in the world of rap and hip hop, and his aim is to deliver an organic re-appropriation of hip-hop circa the mid-90s. Younge’s previous releases, the Black Dynamite (2009) soundtrack and Something About April (2011) touched on psychedelia, ‘blaxploitation,’ and the cinematic soul of the 1970s.

I'd check that out. I haven't bothered with a lot of the more recent stuff because a lot of it has just been sort of mediocre. I still love the first two Wu-Tang albums though, and some of the early solo stuff is almost as good, especially ODB's first.

Real good. The last P.E. single, "I Shall Not Be Moved", was real good too.

All-time favorite hip-hop album is hands down The Mouse and the Mask by DangerDoom. It was the first rap album I bought and got me hooked on hip-hop which I wasn't into back then. That new Ghostface Killa single is the shit!

I really dig PE's There's a Poison Goin' On. I only have it on cassette though and I think the CD is OOP. Same deal with Pharaohe Monch's Internal Affairs.

I got that Monch cd. I remember the day I got it. I bought a new mini-stereo from Circuit City and grabbed a handful of discs to celebrate. Monch's good but the album has never really grabbed me. Half my stuff is in AZ right now but when I come across it I'll mail it to you.

They've been talkin' this up for like 2 years. It's only seven song EP but I prefer these shorter albums artists been doing lately. The music is exactly what I've come to expect from Bronson and Fraud. Just some surfed out cool hip-hop.

http://hiphopgame.ihiphop.com/jeannieweb/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/action-bronson-harry-fraud.jpg

My least favorite track is the one that gets the vid. At least it's amusing.

I greatly prefer their earlier work that has Riff Raff doing a verse. Something I thougth I'd never say.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF-pMq4ih8g

And the Wiz Khalifa track has a great hook!

http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/38535319.jpg

It's funny I started this talking about Wu-Tang because even though I still check them out of morbid curiosity, they lost it. They're old and tired. There will never be another them but time to hang it up already. Sometimes you need something fresh.

These days I'm checking more for artists like Bronson and Fraud and Willie the Kid and Shabazz Palaces. Willie had a good EP called SOMEWHERE. Wonder when he's gonna drop the "Kid" moniker, his lastest work is more sophisticated I think even passing his brother La the Darkman. He's one of the few Wu-Tang related artists that's made his own unique sound completely away from the Wu. I like it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyAozIuCn_g

I'm still hoping Shabazz Palaces puts more stuff. Especially their videos. The most amazing I've seen lately, or ever.

The Wu's not putting that out it, it's from one of their Eurotrash wannabee affiliates. Some dude paid each of them for for verses then cut and pasted it into an album. His production isn't bad but it's not an album in the organic sense.

Their new real album is happening but the singles so far leave A LOT to be desired.

The Wu-Once Upon a Time In Shaolin is a 31-song double-album which involves all members of Wu-Tang Clan, as well as involvement from special guests Bonny Jo Mason, Redman, and some FC Barcelona football players, among others. It is unsure yet whether they will all be spitting beats with the Clan.

WTF???

I'm sorry I sounded like a total troll in my post.

Rza cosigns everything, his approval unfortunately isn't a sign of quality. This project was produced by a Cilvaringz, a Wu-Tang super-fan who previously did production on a couple Wu-related projects. Over the years he paid each member for a verse here and there and has now pasted it all together into an album. Who knows it might actually sound good, I'm sure it will leak eventually. A few years back he did the same thing, made a cut and paste Wu album, he also rapped on it and it was horrible. But the production and everyone else was on point. I'm hoping this is like that minus his rapping.

Nah, you didn't sound like a troll. I read about Cilvarings, how they met him when he got on stage at a show and all that. Kind of a cool story. Didn't realize that this was technically his product though. The way that the hype machine is rolling with it and RZA's talking it up, you'd think it was 'official' Wu.

So Cypress Hill released their new album Elephants on Acid back in September (that I just found out about not too long ago because reasons) and after spinning it a few times I can honestly say it's their best album since IV. Mostly down tempo, produced entirely by Muggs and properly tripped out, there are moments that harken back to the days of Temples of Boom. Even the instrumental interludes in-between each of the proper tracks never break up the flow of the album. Was not expecting this at all but what a welcome return to form.

That Wu-Tang Of Mics and Men makes some great background while I'm working. I admittedly don't know much about Wu-Tang, I have 36 Chambers, obviously. Fuck, there are a lot of guys in that group. Anyway, it's very in-depth.
