No official press release. No cover art. No specs.

But Amazon has a preorder up here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004I3Z6GI?ie=UTF8&tag=cognitrespon-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004I3Z6GI).

Color me stoked. I knew this was in the works and am happy to see it at least looking like it'll happen. They're also releasing Dementia 13 and The Terror as BD/DVD combos the same day.

It's crazy what makes it to Blu-ray when so much else hasn't yet.

I'd rather have Poor Pretty Eddie on BD than most of the major studio garbage that makes it.

I also hope they use this poster for the cover art.

The first time I saw this was just a few years ago. It's a fucking trip and I'll definitely purchase the DVD.

You'll both dig this one to the max. It's amazing to me that this isn't more popular in cult circles than it is. This release might help change that.

Holy jesus. Not a title I would expect on Blu. Great film too.

Just because it's awesome here's a picture of Leslie Uggams hanging out with Macho Man Randy Savage.

Nice, weird little flick. It seems like the dinner/talent show bit from House of 1000 Corpses was lifted straight out of Poor Pretty Eddie.

Slim Pickens always makes me smile.

Good call, Pail. I wish I'd remembered that scene in 1,000 Corpses. I would have mentioned it for sure. Slim Pickens makes me smile too. "well I'll be..."

There's a pretty rad article about the history of the movie just published at Temple of Schlock here (http://templeofschlock.blogspot.com/2011/09/truth-about-eddie-remembering-poor.html). It's a long read but a good one.

I don't know if this is interesting or not but I remember picking up the tape when I was about 16/17 and lucking out that it was the uncut version. But I was a little disappointed. I swear that the description for this flick on Blackest Heart Media's site was something along the lines of 'black guy is dragged by a car by a bunch of rednecks and gets revenge' so when I watched the film I was a little bummed because it was something entirely different. You have to admit that the title seems evocative of that kind revenge flick.

Yeah, the marketing behind the movie is pretty misleading and I can see how you might be disappointed going in and expecting something else. I went in more or less blind based on the recommendation of a friend and not knowing much about it at all and was pretty impressed. Expectations can be a bitch.

The thing is I swear Shawn Smith described the movie that way in the catalog. Maybe he was going off of the title too? Haha.

Temple of Schlock just posted this:

"another alternate title for this twisted little gem. Here's the ad from its St. Louis opening on December 14, 1979."

Oh my god. I've been binge watching Exploitation.TV before my subscription runs out and I'm so happy it compelled me to give POOR PRETTY EDDIE a watch. It's been on my radar for years, even bought a VHS bootleg of REDNECK COUNTY awhile back. Holy Shit, I can't think of anything quite like it. The first 40 minutes are entertaining enough but once Eddie goes from goofy elvis impersonator to full-on psycho the film turns into a freight train of crazy. Right up through the finale.

Here are some !!!!spoilers!!!!:
-Eddie raping a black woman is intercut with rednecks watching dogs screw (oh my?)
-Favorite scene, my stomach is turning as poor Leslie Uggams gives into the horny old man giving her a ride to freedom. Completely unexpectedly Eddie's face sides into view in the rear-view mirror. I jump out of my seat. It's not just the surprise but it appeared as if there was some camera trickery. He look more like cardboard cuttout than a person. If I ever make an animated gif, that will be it.
-Love the distorted soundtrack playing during Eddie's proposal.
-"Would you like to suck on a tomata?"
-I've been in a few VFWs in my life, thankfully I've never witnessed an impromptu rape trial.
-How great is Justice of the Peace Dub Taylor. Great job wardrobe dept for the shirts that don't fit
-I love Slim Pickens. In a career with countless great roles this is by far my favorite. "Did he bite you on the titties?"
-Ted Cassidy as well. Freakin' amazing as Keno. Dudes a freakin Terminator.

It is definitely a minor classic for 70's exploitation. Great ending too.
