Diabolik just got this in stock from After Hours Cinema.

Phil Prince was the last great porn director in New York City, author of some of the scariest, sleaziest, dirtiest porn ever committed to film. Prince’s films are a hot shot of pure perversion, sex for people who are so far gone they don’t know the difference between screwing and blowing their own brains out. Specializing in hardedge sex and BDSM fetishism, Prince and his circle of conspirators managed to crank out eye-popping smut that also works as a kind of edgy, street savvy melodrama. A denizen of the Avon cinemas, Times Square’s most pervert-friendly network of grindhouses, Prince’s work stands dick and shoulders above the more polite, domesticated porn of the Big Eighties. The Avon’s roster of homebrew features was a staggering testament to sexual depravity, a journey into the narcotized mind of high-frequency porn addicts.

Includes The Taming of Rebecca, about a young girl who goes to a school for wayward girls to escape her abusive father; Angel in Distress; and Daughter of Discipline.

I would love that The Taming of Rebecca had is original soundtrack... but I highly doubt it will. With or without, I will have to get it anyway as I'm a completist and Phil Prince never disappoints.

Been looking forward to this release ever since it was announced years ago!

As stated before, the Halloween score has probably been removed (unfortunately) but hopefully the rest of the movie will be intact. It is one of the best roughies ever produced and really deserves its own special edition like The Story of Prunella got a few years back.

Just watched Taming of Rebecca and I was shocked to find the soundtrack wasn't altered in any way! Not only was the music from Halloween included but so was the Stray Cats Rock This Town!

The only thing I noticed that was missing was some dialogue when the girls are talking about the cave before the orgy. It was probably removed due to print damage.

Holy shit! I was not expecting that. I guess that makes it a must buy. What condition are the elements in, worse than 'Prunella' or about the same?

Wow great news! Don't talk too much about that, but I'm glad you did here

I guess the quality is comparable with the last Avon set they did last year (the Carter Stevens one). No extras (except for trailers) either I suppose? An interview with George Payne would be nice, but they don't put a lot of efforts on those releases anymore so I doubt it :nono:

I wish the elements were as good as The Story of Prunella! The film elements were in pretty bad shape. Severe scratches, dirt, hair... quality is pretty bad, really.

I compared it to the Alpha Blue Archives release and found that there are about 8 seconds missing from the intro. On the ABA disc you see "Avon Presents" then "The" then there are some flashes of penetration, flogging and a facial cum shot before you see "Taming". The After Hours Cinema release starts with "Taming". I'm sure this was due to print damage and nothing could be done about it. I already mentioned the missing footage (approx 1 minute) from the dorm room when they are talking about the cave. There is also a snippet missing after Dean Minindao (George Payne) tells Rebecca (Sharon Mitchell) and John (Ron Hudd) to come to his office.

To be honest I haven't seen the Carter Stevens release just yet but I plan on ordering it too. I can't imagine the elements for that one are in any worse shape than those used for Taming of Rebecca though. Like I said, the film has seen its better days. You are right, there are no interviews but quiet a few trailers.

BUT I still highly recommend it! I am glad I have the ABA version. To me it looks great for a video tape transfer and it is complete. I am also glad I have the AHC version. This will probably be the only chance I will ever have to see one of my personal favorites on DVD and sourced from film. It would be a dream come true if John Lyons found a pristine print and poured his many talents into a deluxe edition that made it look like it was filmed yesterday. Would I buy it? In a heart beat! Would I watch it? Probably once then put it on the shelf, adore it and be oh-so-very happy that I own it. For repeat viewings there is nothing like the grindhouse look and scuzzy feeling I get when viewing roughies sourced from a beat up old film print.

I have only scanned through the other movies on the disc but here are the runtimes:
Taming of Rebecca ABA 1:08.03 AHC 1:06.55
Angel in Distress ABA 1:11.50 AHC 1:08.10 (from what I could tell, soundtrack is unchanged and contains score from Halloween too)
Daughter of Discipline ABA 0:42.12 AHC 0:43.39 and looks the best of all the films in this collection

All films are on 1 disc

Surprise it's on a single DVD as all the other triple features I've bought from After Hours are on two, but Daughter of Disciple is really short so I guess the second disc was a non necessary expense. I will order it at the end of the week, anyway I would have get it original music or not. I just hope the films won't be cut too much like it was the case with the Carter Stevens' Avon 7 Collection (2 of the three were and the cuts in Bizarre Styles are obvious). In the worst case scenerio, I had my bad copy of The Taming of Rebecca (bad but complete).

BTW I've some captures for the Carter Stevens set that I've included in my review of the DVD (http://goldensinpleasure.blogspot.ca/2012/01/carter-stevens-avon-7-collection.html) if you want to check if the quality is more or less the same.

Judging by your screenshots, Rebecca may actually be worse. I will try to post some screenshots after work tonight.

Will do, could be better but I guess they don't want to spend money on those films anymore. It's how most of their three films sets look anyway, so it's what I expected it will look like.

Thanks!

Pity the elements aren't in the same condition as the 'Prunella' release, but that one did set the bar pretty high. I'd be grateful if they put more effort into encoding (spreading out onto 2 discs, progressive transfers etc.) but they're full frame transfers from film elements so I can't complain too much. I'll definitely have to pick them up when I can spare the cash.

I also think the interlaced transfers are pretty shocking in this day and age. I don't know if it's cheaper, they don't care or if they just don't know any better.

A couple of our (VS) early discs were accidentally interlaced (authoring error that wasn't caught in time). But AHC just doesn't seem to care anymore.

Got this recently, somehow missed it. Daughters looks surprisingly good. ToR is not in great shape but not unwatchable either, an improvement over the old ABA release. Payne's performance and Mitchell both make it pretty fascinating viewing.
