Anyone else remember these? I used to buy the 3D ones way back when.... because they were 3D. For some reason I was obsessed with the Adolescent Radioactive Blackbelt Hamsters more than TMNT. Anyway, even though that wasn't published by Blackthorne it got me into the idea of 3D comics, which were sort of making a revival in the 80s. Blackthorne published a lot of them, many of them licensed and many of them awful.

Any fans?

Let's make a gallery of Blackthorne covers stolen from various locations around the web!

I'll go first.

I had all of these except Red Heat which I've never actually seen a physical of. Some of them are still in long boxes in my closet.

I remember being disappointed in most of these after I bought them, but I kept buying them anyway because I was a dumb kid.

Yep, we had plenty of these in the shop I worked at. Never sold a one. For some reason that California Raisins comic makes me angry. Why was that ever a thing?

Ray Zone kept busy then.

I had some. I had the Twisted Tales one, the Gumby one, and the Sheena one. I bought the Sheena one because I thought it would be sexy as fuck, but it wasn't. I can't recall if the Three Stooges was by Blackstone or Pacific. I had an Aliens Worlds one to, but that may have been Pacific too. And yeah they weren't very good. Gave me a headache.

There are copies of Red Heat in 3D and non-3D versions starting at $1.60 on eBay.

I think when the NYC comic con comes around in a few months I'm going to rummage through all the cheapie bins and put together a run of these. haha.

It's good to have goals.

I had the Three Stooges one and the Transformers one.

Matt, didn't I send you that Batman 3-D Graphic novel? That had an original John Byrne story.

Oh, I also had a 3-D Rocketeer comic that came with an audio tape so you could read along. It was pretty neat. Like the Batman comic the 3-D glasses looked like a Rocketeer mask.

3-D fuggin sucks.

Tell you what though, Scott - there is a 2 issue series that came out as part of Final Crisis called SUPERMAN BEYOND by Grant Morrison and Doug Mahnke and it's fucking rad. Even the 3-D is good.

Here's a picture of me reading it...

I found most of the Blackthorne 3d comics in the cheap bins in the early 90s. They were 10 cents a piece. I would go almost every Friday and buy 10 bucks worth of cheap comics. Didn't they also publish Nervous Rex and Roachmill?

Ian Jane

Yes they did! But when Roachmill continued, it was through Dark Horse. But it started with Blackthorne.

That is the first issue of Roachmill I bought. I wish there was a trade of all the Roachmill issues.
