So apparantly the Code Red DVD release of God's Bloody Acre has been yanked. It was due to come out 1/25/11 according to Amazon but a press release from Navarre has supposedly requested retailers return all copies.

They're still available on eBay for less than Amazon right now if anyone needs this before it goes bye-bye. I bit.

CR said on Latarnia (http://thelatarniaforums.yuku.com/topic/8641/CodeRed-Wish-List?page=29) that it'll be out in June now and that it was pulled because of a problem, not a rights issue as some have guessed.

Glad to hear it, I want this thing!

I dunno that the version coming out in June is going to be the same one though - CR mentioned doing it as a double feature. Odd.

So they'll probably keep the 16x9 and drop the home video-sourced one, or vice versa?

Thanks for the heads-up. Just grabbed one off Ebay for a few cents under 15 bucks including the shipping. Am a little nervous about them saying it has a "disc problem" though - are these defective?

The couple of reviews I could dig up said nothing about any obvious problems.

Horamce. ^_^

I wouldn't worry too much about it - Amazon is now supposedly shipping them. Who knows wtf is going on with this release, really. CR's schedule and PR is inconsistent to say the least. I just want the damn movie in as nice a condition as possible.

Just got this message:

"Hello and thanks for your message.

Unfortunately the item in your order has been discontinued by the distributor. We have sent a request to our accounting department to have you refunded for the purchase so you can try and buy it from another retailer.

Once the refund has been made we will submit a request to eBay to cancel the order.

We apologize for the inconvenience."

Fuck it. I give up. I'll wait for the reissue.

Bastards! Don't they know who you ARE?!?!

It's good when eBay sellers take your money right away and don't bother to tell you they don't have what you just paid them for. This fucker had my coin for eight days and didn't do shit. The only reason I got that message is because I sent him a message asking what was up with my stuff. Dickwad. And now I'm supposed to wait for his 'accounting dept.' to issue me a refund? It takes two seconds to issue a refund via paypal. Just do it already.

Sorry. Too much caffine this morning.

Have any reviews popped up for the revised release that's out now?

Ian Jane

Not that I've seen, though it's apparantly out there and available.

So did they just drop the second transfer and replace it with Tomcats or are there more differences?

I'd be curious to know myself. I just ordered Witchmaker and Nightmares and was tempted by the double feature re-release but couldn't pull the trigger.

I was going to order the GOD'S BLOODY ACRE/TOMCATS DVD a day or two ago, when I found out it was available, but I decided against it because, to be honest, I'm skint. I'd love to hear from anyone who's seen it though.

I got my dvd this week (and Nighmare too)... I don't have the recalled one as I didn't see the point of paying for it, but this is certainly the new transfer as it's an anamorphic Widescreen (1:78) one.

I'm confused about this disc (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). Was the "problem" with this single feature release, or the double feature, with TOMCATS? The whole situation seems weird....I had also read the disc was pulled due to the "homage" to the MGM logo, not because of the freezing issue on the disc. Who knows? I don't particularly trust Code Red's official response on this one.

I picked up the single feature disc on ebay for $20, shipping included, just to be sure I got this. Code Red claims to be releasing this again next month, but with their track record, I'm not sure. I have some of their other releases, but they were hard to find. It seems like Code Red releases are just hard to find in general. Not to mention the guy in charge seems to have an attitude!

The 'problem' was with the single feature, not the Tomcast double feature (that's the corrected version).

Hmmmm....hope I didn't get a dud! The seller will be getting it back if that's the case, as there's no mention in the ad of problems with the disc.

I don't think there were any actual problems with the disc - none of the advance reviews that covered it mentioned anything. So far as I know Code Red never said what the problem was?

That's sort of the indication I got as well, Ian. I'll let you know when I get the disc! I think it was a good risk picking up the disc, though, given CR's odd releasing tactics.

I'm almost sure it was because the disc froze at the end on some dvd reader (when the same guy who are on the Marcy dvd appears). But I can't remember where I've read it...

Also it's possible that it happen on the "public domain" version and not the anamorphic one, that would explain why the freezing situation was not mentioned on any review...
