Stuff like Maniac... Basket Case... Ms. 45 (was that NYC?)... and, hmmm... that movie I watched with Ian and Horace with the scene with the chick sitting at the table and the lowlife stranger dudes playing with her under the table (it was Italian...).

I love the "feel" of these films. Anymore to recommend?

That was New York Ripper. Viva Fulci!

Some more obvious choices...
Taxi Driver
Death Wish
Tenament (the Bronx is burning, baby!)
Parts of The Howling (wasn't the Peepshow bit shot at Show World on 8th?)
Carnival Of Blood (for the Coney Island footage)
The Warriors
French Connection
Night of The Juggler
Most of Findlay's B&W roughies

Pretty much anything Shaun Costello directed if you want XXX NYC atmosphere.

Not thinking so much about mainstream action flicks like The Warriors, Taxi Driver and Death Wish (all which were, of course, great), but moreso stuff on the horror/ex level but not porn.

Tenement was cool, I wouldn't mind watching that again.

VIGILANTE, THE SEVEN-UPS, and anything else with Spinell from that period that doesn't take place in outer space.

It's a piece of dook, but Findlay's PRIME EVIL has some of what you're after.

I realize this isn't entirely what we're talking about, but it's what came to mind.

Vigilante is a great choice. The ending of that was shot a few blocks from where I work, that crazy conveyer belt thing is even taller and shakier looking in real life than in the movie.

I will try to... find it somewhere. :haha:

This isn't the "Name Your Penis" thread, Todd. Take your nonsense elsewhere. :hmph:

Scavolini's "Nightmare in a Damaged Brain" has some pretty Time Square stuff.

Combat Shock?
Sort of Taxi Driver meets Erasherhead.
The band Suicide did a song about it.

Staten Island counts, so yeah, I'd say Combat Shock for sure. Doesn't get much grittier.

The Possession Of Joel Delany

The ending of this is insane. It's hard to believe it was released by Paramount.

Other way around. Buddy G. was inspired by "Frankie Teardrop" to make COMBAT SHOCK.

No kidding? I had no idea, always thought the film came first...

Anyway, possibly the most metaphysically depressing movie ever made. I highly recommend it.

Yes sir, their debut album was released in 1977.
