View Full Version : "But, grandfather, which Manowar DVD should I get?"

http://store.magiccirclemusic.com/category/90/DVDs - storewide sale thru the 31st of 21% off. Figure I should take advantage.

So which DVD to get? And the correct answer, I know, is "all of them" but I gotta start somewhere...

(Yes, I did order the remastered Battle Hymns already as well.)

Yeah, get'em on sale for sure. They're pretty spendy. All of the Hell On Earth series are great, with Vol's 2 and 3 really standing out. 5 is also amazing because it has the whole viking ship on stage thing going on and features footage of them playing inside a haunted Turkish prison. I think it also probably has the best sound mix of the bunch.

On of them features the Miss Manowar contest. I'm pretty suire it's vol. 2. That's pretty awesome too.

OK, so the Battle Hymns 2011 release is pretty fucking great.

This forum is still young, but not too young to experience the full fury of Manowar.

Death to false metal.

This one is very inspiring:

But not as inspiring as this, the greatest song ever written and a credo by which I try to live my life daily:

Manowar are not gay.

Noland, my biggest regret in life is not joining forces with you to bring Barry Manowar to life. That would have been the greatest tribute band ever.

Battle Hymsn 2011 is good but Christopher Lee is not Orson Wells even if he's trying really hard. He does a good job but still, it's not Orson. I'm on a first name basis with him now that he's dead.

Manowar Vineyards:

I should go there and get wine.

Remember when Ross The Boss was in Manowar? I don't I was too young to care. But as an adult I would like to see Ross play with Manowar. His first soloo album was good and his new one is out now but I don't have it yet. I almost bought it was last week but it was $20, fuck that.

Ross ths boss. Dictators and Manowar. RAD. Seriously. How fucking rad is that? The Dictators and Manowar. He was in both of those bands. The Dictotaros did my wedding song, you know. I told him, Handsome Dick, and he was pretty touched for real. He was like, ah, wow, that's so cool, no one has ever told me that before. His bar is good, chpeat beer. Unless you're paul Casey, then people pick fights with you there.

No, the Misfats were the greatest tribute band ever - but Barry Manowar would've been a very, very close 2nd.

Ha. Holy Fuck. I've watched that three times so far and it's still awesome.

Here are my favorite moments:
-look at the funny little dog!
-homoerotic beer foam drinking
-wobbly foam air guitar
-dirty dancing to Manowar
-all of it! It's all my favorite part.

And here's to him popping the question on her the way only a true Manowar fan should:

(Oh and next time we're together we're totally drinking beer that way, dude.)

MANOWAR Reveal Album Title and Digital Release Date

MANOWAR Announce Digital Release Of New Album For June 16, 2012

MANOWAR’s new studio album, The Lord Of Steel, will first be released worldwide on June 16, 2012 exclusively on iTunes and... on the band’s own online store, The Kingdom Of Steel (www.thekingdomofsteel.com (http://www.thekingdomofsteel.com/)).

On the same date, Metal Hammer UK will release a special ‘Steel Edition’ of Metal Hammer #233, including the CD and a digital copy of the album.

The Lord Of Steel is blazing with pure power, untamed energy, and a sound as raw and wild as a force of nature. Track titles like Annihilation and Hail, Kill And Die! set the tone for a record that is packed with surprises.

In contrast to the 2007 release Gods Of War, this new album is not a concept album, yet each song tells a different story, retaining the MANOWAR vision of righteousness, honor and everything MANOWAR fans have come to know and love.

MANOWAR fans should expect to have “their heads completely blown off” said MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio in a recent interview, and explained that “…this album is all about brutality and raw power!”

The album will be mixed and mastered at the legendary Wisseloord Studios by long-time collaborators mixing engineer Ronald Prent and two-time Grammy award-winning mastering engineer Darcy Proper.

Known for their adventurous spirit and for never releasing the same style of album twice in a row, MANOWAR have this time tapped into the world of action heroes and their stories, writing their first song specifically for a Hollywood movie, EL GRINGO and another one, Expendable, inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s action movie franchise ‘The Expendables’.

The band recently announced that El Gringo will be the theme song of the action western EL GRINGO, featuring Scott Adkins (‘Expendables 2’, ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’) and Christian Slater and produced by After Dark Films (‘An American Haunting’) and Joel Silver’s (‘Matrix’, ‘Lethal Weapon’) Dark Castle Home Entertainment.

The trailer for the film ‘El Gringo’ featuring a short sample of the theme song can be seen here: http://youtu.be/cfaOoABkQW4

A sneak preview into the song ‘El Gringo’ can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/2JOqDxJ5trY

A sneak preview into the song ‘Expendable’ can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/koNYpiwHjHY

“We were talking about a concept album but then got inspired to go in a different direction. This is where we are right now.” explained Joey DeMaio. “I’ve been doing research on getting the best microphones and pre-amps for the guitars. The bass sound is death defying. We’ve done a lot of work on drums too, giving Donnie room to stretch out. And Eric will simply sound bigger than life as always.”

MANOWAR are ready to celebrate their new album in a manner worthy of The Kings Of Metal with headlining performances at open-air summer festivals across Europe.

Upcoming MANOWAR headlining tour dates:
Sat, June 16, 2012 – Ost Fest – Bucharest, Romania
Thu, June 21, 2012 – Gods Of Metal – Milan, Italy
Fri, July 6, 2012 – Getaway Rock Festival – Gävle, Sweden
Mon, July 9, 2012 – Dortmunder Music Week Festival – Dortmund, Germany

Release: Digital pre-release: 6/16/2012 on iTunes and www.thekingdomofsteel.com (http://www.thekingdomofsteel.com/)
Metal Hammer UK Steel Edition: 6/16/2012

I'm taking my shirt off just thinking about it. Good to see that Joey is promising fans that their heads will be completely blown off. If my head is going to be blown off, I'd prefer it be complete and not have just a little bit of head left on there.

Review (http://www.angrymetalguy.com/manowar-the-lord-steel-review/) of the new album from one of my fav blogs. It's not positive. I don't listen to these guys much nowadays...what do you think of the album?

Ian Jane
06-18-2012, 02:36 PM
I haven't heard it yet. It's not on spotify and I don't buy MP3s, so I'm waiting for the actual CD to come out before I get to give it a shot.

I think I was the only guy who liked Gods Of War.

Here, now you can sing along with it.

3517 MANOWAR Confirm New Movie Project With ‘Expendables 2’ Star Jean-Claude Van Damme

Following their recent movie debut with the title song for the action-western EL GRINGO, MANOWAR have confirmed their next soundtrack project, ‘Soldiers’, starring action icon Jean Claude Van Damme.

Van Damme, who is Sylvester Stallone’s co star as an arch villain in ‘Expendables 2’ said about the collaboration: “...I met with Joey DeMaio and explained my vision for the entire soundtrack, he will be writing original score as well as bringing MANOWAR songs to the movie.”

Produced by Hollywood veteran and long-term Van Damme collaborator, action specialist Moshe Diamant (‘The Black Dahlia’, ‘Hard Target’, ‘Sudden Death’), ‘Soldiers’ follows Van Damme on an action packed quest for righteousness, retribution and resurrection.

"Joey DeMaio has the musical ability to write fighting hymns, soulful ballads and deeply emotional scores.” said producer Moshe Diamant.

“We’ve always had a passion for movies, especially those that celebrate the values that matter for us: righteousness, honor, bravery. Contributing musically to such stories, and working with some of the greatest action heroes in cinema history is an honor and a pleasure. We are ready to deliver a powerful soundtrack to this really great movie ” said Joey DeMaio.

The guitarist, David Shankle, who played on the Triumph of Steel album lives in my area and has a new band, DSG (David Shankle Group) whose bassist is a friend of mine from back when (who also does a really good Slayer tribute band, Hell Awaits)...I have yet to hear them, but they play the small bar scene quite frequently...

Kind of made a point to go check DSG out, but it seems like whenever they are playing, I have something else going on...
