This movie is available on Amazon. See? (http://www.amazon.com/Ritual-of-Death/dp/B00ISDWGMQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1420917030&sr=1-1&keywords=ritual+of+death)

This release screams 'illegitimate' to me and the fact that it's offered as an MOD title on DVD-R, while not official confirmation, makes me think my instincts are right on this one.

12071

Part of me just wants a physical copy, but the original VHS release is long gone and way too hard to find.

I know of no legitimate import releases.

I enjoy low budget gore films from eighties-era South America and would like to add more to my collection, but like so many other obscurities it's tough to find anything that isn't a bootleg of a torrent. Which is fine if you just want to see them movies but it sets my collector OCD off in a big way.

Rad, right? Dig this fake trailer.

The same director made Satanic Attraction which I have yet to see and which is supposedly better in some ways.

This trailer makes that case well.

Someone needs to release both of these movies.

Brazilian director Fauzi Mansur also made a lot of hardcore pornography. If you do a youtube search for his name all sorts of odd stuff comes up.

I would like to see more of his work. Dude has got some wacky ideas going on just based on ROD alone... I mean, he's not Coffin Joe but he's still maybe kind of rad.

Does anyone have more insight into this man's work?

Was he discussed on Tombs' Mondo Macabro book? I will bust that out and check later because my memory is no longer good.

I've only seen these two flicks from him, although I do recall watching one obscure Brazilian bootleg recently which might have been directed by Mansur. I agree that his work is often a little rough and talky, but there's definitely some creepy atmosphere on both Ritual of Death and Satanic Attraction. I have the OG tape of the former and a bootleg of the latter.

Yeah, I'm stuck in the bootleg ghetto but would gladly upgrade if someone were to show these movies some love with a legitimate release. It's too bad Synapse's line of oddball Brazilian stuff never caught on, it could have led to stuff like this coming out.

Yeah, I have those, and that stuff probably just scratches the surfaces of all the fuckedupedness Brazil has to offer (ahem, "A Gunman Named Papaco," anyone?)

This dude is offering both on DVD-R but I can't imagine they're anything but tape sourced and probably look more or less on par with the torrents and grey market copies already floating around.

He does link to some great clips though, for those who haven't seen the movies and are curious.
