The Movies:
This collection is comprised of AN EROTIC VAMPIRE IN PARIS, AN EROTIC WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and a “bonus†film PURGATORY BLUES. All either star, or have an appearance by popular softcore starlet Misty Mundae.
The main attraction is here is VAMPIRE, the story of a naí¯ve and lonely American girl (Mundae) who visits Paris and encounters one misfortune after another. Her mother dies, she is raped, robbed and left walking the streets of Paris hungry and alone. It's then that she is approached by the vampire who offers her some food and… you all know where this is headed, right?
These films are simply setups for softcore lesbian sex scenes between attractive actresses. As a horror film this is pathetic - but as a vehicle for hot sex scenes it's tops in the genre. The fact that the movie was shot on location in Paris helps as well - and it has a surpassingly good score with intelligent use of classical music. There are some missteps however. The introduction of a couple of male victims feels shoved in with little thought, and some of the acting is not very good. Mundae and the vampire (played by a very sexy Tina Krause) are hot stuff together though. Fans of this type of thing will be more than pleased.
AN EROTIC WEREWOLF IN LONDON, at just over an hour, feels more like a short film. It also has a staggeringly ill-advised subplot based around an investigative reporter hunting the title character. The plot is almost nonexistent - female werewolf has sex with, and then mauls, attractive female victims. While Mundae is technically the “star†the movie belongs to the white-hot actress/former fetish model Anoushka. Looking like Brigitte Nielsen's hot younger sister with her platinum blonde hair and classic Slavic features, her extended sex scene with Mundae truly delivers the goods. The werewolf effects are awful, but I'm not sure most fans are going to care when the girl-on-girl action is this good.
Lastly, we have the “bonus†film: PUGATORY BLUES. Featuring small roles for Mundae (as a junkie girlfriend), Debbie Rochon and Julie Strain, this is about a man who winds up in purgatory. Beyond that I am frankly at a loss to describe this abomination. The famous girls are barely in it, the sex scenes are lame and unerotic, and most of the running time is spent with the lead character who is painful to watch. The opening scene has all the production value (and entertainment) of the worst high school production ever to be captured on camcorder. Yes folks, it really is that bad. Seduction Cinema did us no favors by unearthing this gem. And at 90 minutes the length is interminable.
Video/Audio/Extras:
All three films were shot on video and are full frame transfers. Image quality, is, however more than acceptable. Watching on a quality 50 Inch plasma screen I was more than happy with the image considering the source materials. There is a bit of harshness at times - but that probably has to do with how the films were lit.
Extras are good. WEREWOLF gets an informative commentary track with William Hellfire, Michael Raso, and film Historian Ed Grant. This is a fun track with lots of info about the trials and tribulations of low-budget filmmaking. Actress Ruby LaRocca sits down for a short interview and comes across as down-to-earth and likeable. VAMPIRE gets a mini documentary that plays well and spends a fair amount of time talking about how the film was shot on location. There is also some behind-the-scenes footage (which seems to be random shots of the actors goofing off during filming) in a separate feature.
Finally, we get a nice selection of Mundae trailers.
The Final Word:
All in all this is a highly recommended set (except for the 3rd film) for both fans of Mundae and softcore in general. Seduction Cinema deliver a value-for-money package with some nice extras thrown in.
