The Movie:
Also known as (Schrodinger's Girl), this messy British sci-fi film concerns scientist Rebecca (Abigail Tarttelin) who is illegally working on research into parallel universes. After gaining access to 3 of these alternate realities, Rebecca discovers that similar research is being done in these places - and that she has 3 “doubles†as well. As far as I could figure out the main problem with Rebecca's universe-hopping is that it opens rifts in the space-time continuum which can lead to disaster. Averting that is a problem however because the residents of these alternate realities are only concerned with themselves.
An effective plot synopsis of TRIPLE HIT is virtually impossible. The movie is attempting, on a very low budget, to be a complex science fiction epic. And not a goofy STAR WARS knockoff either - it has aspirations to be in the same class as BLADE RUNNER or something similar. The plotting and structure are confusing at best and incomprehensible at worst. As Rebecca travels between these 3 worlds sometimes the only way to tell them apart is by their color schemes. And instead of a slow build we get a scatter shot plot line that jumps around so much the viewer spends most of their time just trying to figure out what is going on.
The acting (particularly the lead actress), is sub par and the special effects were clearly created on a less than excellent computer program.
Video/Audio/Extras:
Visually, TRIPLE HIT doesn't even look good - the low budget 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer is both soft and lacking in strong color. The stereo audio track is even worse - volume fluctuations run rampant and the track lacks in normal bass which makes for unpleasant listening.
The Final Word:
While the intentions of the filmmakers are to be applauded (let's face it - we could certainly use some more serious science fiction out there to counteract all the BUTTERFLY EFFECT style crap), good intentions are simply not enough to make this film worthwhile. I found it to be seriously deficient in almost every area.Posting comments is disabled.
