    The Movie:
A meteor that resembles a large bud of ganja crashes down to Earth, under the slack-jawed gawk of a man who's just killed his wife. He makes his way to the meteor, finding a large bong inside the chunk of space debris, which is really a spaceship. And the bong is really an alien that just looks like a bong. Dumbfuck brings it to a Venice Beach head shop, and sells it for a few bucks. The shop is owned by Pothead #1 and Pothead #2, and their friends #3 and #4 show up to see what's cooking. Actually they show up for a specific reason that doesn't really matter.

Pothead #2 can't resist the temptation of smoking out of the alien bong and is swept into Bongland, where he's greeted by topless women the color of Skittles. Another person, Old Hippy #1, stops by and he takes a hit too, also getting sucked into the bong. Turns out the alien bong has some plan to drain the men of their seed and mix it with some alien goo and begin his world domination.

Old Hippy #2 enters the picture with his sexy mute nurse and he gets recruited to help get their friends out of the land of bong and then destroy the alien so it can do no more harm. Old Hippy #2 has possession of the Evil Bong that helped them the last time around, which is why they called upon him. Complete with a wisecracking black woman's voice, the Evil Bong does what it has too in order to get the people out of the alien breeding farm. Will there be a price to pay for her assistance? Will they save their friends and stop the goo-crazed tyrant from the stars?

Because someone thinks you can't get enough of the weed-fueled hijinks, the people who delivered The Puppet Master series puts forth their latest effort, Evil Bong 3. Not having the benefit (?) of seeing parts 1 and 2, this viewer can't give a comparison between this one and the movie's predecessors, but let's go out on a limb and say you probably can watch any of the three in any order and it wouldn't matter.

This one was clearly made for zoning out purposes, as the story is pretty thin, and there's not much to really need to pay attention too. The humor is pretty weak, but there're a few spots here and there that may cause a stoned snicker or two, but nothing invoking a belly laugh or anything remotely close to it. The special effects are pretty bad, from the bong puppets to the computer animation, but it kind of goes along with the cheesiness the look of the movie has. You pretty much know what you're going to get when you pick up a movie about a talking bong.

Even though it's not very good, it's entertaining enough. The footage of Venice Beach is pretty interesting, with all the artist-types, head shops, and walk-in tent doctors who will write you a prescription for the devil grass. And the topless chicks covered in colored makeup are nothing to sneer at. And they get quite a bit screen time, which is a good thing. It's supposed to be a 3-D movie, but in 2-D it plays out more like a 3-D episode of The Three Stooges, which is where the majority of chuckles come from. There are far worse things you could waste your time with than spending it watching Evil Bong 3. The movie makers aren't taking the movie seriously and neither should you.

    Video/Audio/Extras:
NOTE: This disc viewed for this review has “Pre-Release Full Moon Road Show Exclusive Edition” on the front cover. It is not the version made available for retail and may not represent the actual final product.

The movie is shown with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio, and gives a decent picture. Bright colors are featured throughout the film and they come across really well. At times they steal the scene they're so loud. Black levels seem consistently deep, and void of artifacts, and flesh tones are fine. It's a pleasing picture for sure. The audio on this disc is a 2.0 channel track. Sounds fine, no issues to report and appears to have the right balance. The only extra is a trailer for the feature.

    The Final Word:
Brainless movie watching that won't knock your socks off, but won't cause much pain either. There's plenty on screen to look, at which is more than can be said for a lot of low-budget quickies of this type.

      Tormented – Movie Review:

The late Bert I. Gordon’s 1963 horror film, ‘Tormented,’ is an effectively spooky ghost story made with an obviously low budget but no less effective for it.
