Distribpix has just announced that they're going to try to bring Radley Metzger's classic adult film The Opening Of Misty Beethoven to Blu-ray if they can raise enough money to make it happen. While the Kickstarter page was taken down (BOOOOO for Kickstarter!) Distribpix has decided to move forward with this regardless and has set up this webpage where you can get in on making this happen:

    http://projectmisty.com/

In a nutshell, the DVD is going to happen no matter what. The Blu-ray is going to cost a bit more and so that's where this campaign comes in. By pledging, you're not charged until and unless the target is hit - so if this doesn't happen, you're not out anything. If it does happen, you'll get some pretty great 'rewards' based on how much you pledge to the project.

Anyone interested in this should pledge at least $35, that way you're getting yourself a copy of the Blu-ray (which will be dual layered and include ALL of the extras from the DVD in HD), shipped. It's basically the same concept as preordering yourself a copy of the Blu-ray - with your hard earned $'s pledged, Distribpix can move forward with the replication and licensing costs involved in bringing this to the format.

There are a lot more rewards available to those who want to pledge more, however, including soundtrack CDs (with 48 pages of liners), posters, prints, credits on the disc, access to theatrical screenings, exclusive discs of outtake footage and a lot more. Again, all of that can be seen here.

Maybe Kickstarter will realize adults have the right to spend their money on whatever they want and they have no business telling us otherwise. But given that they didn't respond to anyone's email, eh, probably not.

Given that they eventually decided to start preventing backers from sending emails, I'd say their issue is a simple lack of respect for their customers.
