    Year: 1982

    The Movie:

Back in the days before the internet and the days of immediate information, pervs had to rely on the likes of magazines like “Celebrity Skin” or “Celebrity Sleuth” to check out Hollywood stars in the buff. And if you were lucky enough to have a video store nearby that wasn't a “family oriented” video store, Famous T&A may have been on a shelf just begging to be rented by the young and impressionable. Hosted by the one and only Sybil Danning, B-movie queen of the 80s, the tape delivered on its promise and showed all kinds of famous T&A as seen on film up until the early 80s. In between scenes, Sybil danced around in her leather, wielding a sword, and looking wonderfully slutty. How could this not be gold?

Thirty years later, Full Moon brings it back from the brink of obscurity on its “Grindhouse Collection” label, and for those who saw it back in the day it brings a great flood of nostalgia. Scenes from the following movies are featured:

Terminal Island / Summer Affair / Slave of the Cannibal God / Ms. Don Juan / Single Girls / Truck Stop Women / Working Girls / Secrets / Auditions / Dr. Minx / Manhandlers / Fairy Tales / Sweet Sugar / Emmanuelle Around the World / Tanya's Island / Harrad Experiment

There're lots of beautiful figures to behold in this compilation, and if you can't figure out who they are from the titles above, look for Ursula Andress, Claudia Jennings, Cassandra Peterson, Uschi Digard, Laura Gemser, Brigitte Bardot, and Russ Meyer lady Edy Williams, to name a few. Oh and for the ladies, Don Johnson struts his stuff too, pre-Miami Vice. Among the highlights are Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson's topless dance from Working Girls, a stunt woman riding a motorcycle and doing tricks…with no pants on, a weird section with a leather butt and a big-boobed archer, and Sybil Danning with a sword. The program not only features scenes taken from the various films, but also in some cases outtakes are shown, which back in the 80s was a real treat. Sure, it's expected now to have extra material, but back then it was pretty special.

Whether revisiting Famous T&A or viewing it for the first time ever, it shouldn't disappoint. That is, if you're a fan of the naked female figure. At only 75 minutes in length, it never overstays its welcome and is a great disc to pop in the player and zone out to.

    Video/Audio/Extras:

A disclaimer before the movie plays explains the video quality as being a tape source, so don't come to the table expecting some digitally restored footage and you should be oay. If you saw the tape all those years ago, expect a nicer image but little else. But that's not a complaint, mind you. The sources used in the production in the 80s were of various quality but all very watchable, and all in a 4:3 aspect ratio. The audio is fine when the movie clips are playing, but gets really quiet during the bizarre little bumpers that play between the clips. You need to turn it up to hear the buxom host speak, then be quick to turn it back down so you don't bleed out of your ears.

The extras are made up of an 8-minute introduction from Full Moon boss Charles Band, worth listening to for certain. Next is a little 3-minute “grindhouse featurette” which is essentially an advertisement for their Grindhouse label. Lastly, some trailers for some other Full Moon movies can be watched if so desired. The trailers are Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt, Evil Bong 3, Gingerdead Man 3, Killjoy 3, Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, and Skull Heads.

    The Final Word:

Fun when it was on the rental shelf as a kid, and fun three decades later watching it as an adult. This disc is well worth the small price and is a great trip back in time.

I picked up a boot of this back when Code Red released TERMINAL ISLAND. I was looking for Phyllis Davis outtakes. FAMOUS T&A is right up my ally. It really is fantastic from start to finish. The most unforgettable segments for me were the bottomless motorcycle stunt lady and Phyllis Davis. It's also responsible for getting me into Sybil Danning's Adventure Video. I did get the DVD last year, but I also picked up a sealed VHS copy a couple weeks ago. I liked the box art and I wanted to see if the VHS had a better presentation.
