    Released by: Dark Horse Comics
    Released on: November 13, 2013

Vigilante? Cop-killer? Drug-dealer? The main character at the heart of the series X is potentially all of these things but for very good reasons, apparently. In this issue, titled Ruidoso, the burden of proof falls to that character, a rookie cop who encountered X but was left alive.

Ruidoso leads a team of police misfits as a task force assigned to bring X down: There's Ruidoso himself at the front; Nate Tendler, a former heavyweight boxer that's just too damn honest; Hamideh Rizza, the female cop who refused to sleep her way to promotion; and Freel Kendrick, the nerd who can't keep his opinions of his superiors to himself. They've got their lieutenant Setter nipping at their heels so they set out to capture X rather than just execute him, which is what the rest of the dirty cops want to have happen.

The team soon track X down, only to have him best all of them and escape unharmed. But he does leave them with some questions regarding their superiors and what might really be going on and what X might actually be trying to accomplish. As they ponder these they're soon able to track X to a secret location but some turncoats race them to there and go in, guns blazing. While they're busy overreacting our team is able to spot a wounded female escaping who, in turns out, is X's girlfriend. Will they find the answers they seek or the answers they need? Stay tuned!

The script by Duane Swierczynski keeps the action moving along well and resists most of the lure for cliches. The characters are well-defined and that helps with identifying with them all quickly. Eric Nguyen's art style relies heavily on shadow in this series which serves the “hidden truth” theme quite well and is excellently executed.
