  • Shaolin Cowboy #3

    Released by: Dark Horse Comics
    Released on: December 11, 2013

The extra-gory tale of the Shaolin Cowboy continues, as he now disposes of his staff-mounted twin-chainsaw slaughter machine and taps into his inner spirit. The dead continue to pile up and drive on around him so, now, instead he uses his fists and feet to dispatch their evil number.

Primarily, this provides author/artist Geoff Darrow the opportunity for a whole new presentation of obscenely-detailed levels of zombie death. Big single-panel pieces become the focus here showing the Shaolin Cowboy's path in what I'm guessing is a great comedic nods to the “Where did you go today?” banality of a Family Circus panel. And, yet, Darrow's able to move the story ahead here as the fight begins to show its signs of wear on our hero and he has to dig deep, into his training, his past and his spiritual center to rally in order to continue.

Gory and fun, Shaolin Cowboy just continues to be a damn fun series. I can't wait to see the final installment in issue #4.
