Judge Dredd: Mega-City Two - City of Courts #2
Released by: IDW Publishing
Release on: February 5, 2014
Dredd continues his undercover work here, really getting into the role by taking on the persona of “The Man†and infiltrating an outlaw biker gang in Mega-City Two.
He also gets a sassy new outfit and gets to fight a bunch of people as part of his gang initiation - all of which the every-present TV crew from Dahlia Studios just adore. But then Dredd lets them down when he crashes into a store selling the illegal ZzizzyPop and refuses to do an ad for them. Yet as a new member of the gang he's soon seeing who their leaders are, all apparently named “Mother†and then a number, showing the line of succession.
One gang member befriends him and cooperates quite a bit, getting Dredd to the point of a biker showdown race to the death between two big rival gangs. As the losing gang tries to sneakily retaliate Dredd is able to take some of them down and, thus, becomes “Mother 14†to them. Which of course necessitates another biker showdown.
Dredd is able to patch through to Chief Justice Kennedy to call for reinforcements, though, so just as he's able to put away his challenger more Judges show up and arrest all the gangs. Kennedy, of course, is at the forefront and getting most of the glory. And Dredd is able to commute the sentences of the helpful female gang member that helped him. So despite Kennedy's concern that Dredd was just supposed to be doing recon rather than arresting, seemingly, everyone, he still has clear uses for Dredd here in the new digs…
As with the previous issue, the story is fun, fast-paced, well-illustrated and just a good time all around.
