  • Abe Sapien #11

    Released by: Dark Horse Comics
    Released on: March 12, 2014

The menace and trouble just seem to follow and surround Abe Sapien, on the run from B.P.R.D. and, now, getting involved in local small-town affairs. He knows the kids camped out on the edge of town are up to no good but the sheriff still fiercely defends them, even up to the point where they manage to resurrect a whole graveyard full of zombies…

Elsewhere, the evil mage Gustav Strobl leads his motley mind-controlled companions to face off against his old master in the black arts, Kouvelis, who's most recently been in the pit of Hell itself. As the two face off it's Kouvelis who provides more exposition about both Heaven and Hell closing their gates on the Earth, letting a new reality try and form there. Strobl is able to finally overpower Kouvelis by controlling one of his number to kill him. Together, then, they set off as the new master and student, for the Black School in Norway.

The small town sheriff, before he faces off with a zombie, is able to upload a video to and for Abe, saying that he believes Abe to be a good guy. While Abe watches this surrounded by the aftermath of marauding zombies so, too, does B.P.R.D. who now have some location to track Abe..

More pieces get moved around in this issue with a bit more explanation so that's helpful to the story overall - although it does still feel a bit cluttered/overwrought. But maybe that's just because Abe Sapien is such a complex and overwhelming character? It's still enjoyable but will want to be read once the whole story arc is available in its entirety.
