The Movie:
Before the VCR and long before the DVD and Blu-ray player, there was the 8mm film and like all film/video formats, it was frequently used for porn. So yeah, in the decades past, there was a lot of 8mm porn made, shown either in the basements of horny guys with 8mm projectors or in makeshift storefront theaters on the seedy side of town. A lot of this material has probably been lost to the ravages of time, but certainly not all of it and Impulse Pictures have been good enough to mill around and dig up some fine examples of what was really the precursor to today's gonzo fuck scenes. The content on this disc is presented as it was shot - without sound - and while there isn't a lot of plot or any semblance of character development, some of this stuff is interesting to see and occasionally kinda steamy.

SHEEP WEREN'T LIKE THIS: Somewhere in a sexy sauna a shaggy haired dude is suckling the teet of a foxy, curvy blonde. Their clothes come off and she goes down on him, and they kiss. This kiss magically transports them to his place, or may her place, where they're nude on the couch and going at it. There's some doggy style love, missionary action on the couch and then some ooey gooey cowgirl fun. She blows him again and he does his business in her mouth. On a side note I had a couch in college that was referred to as the 'couch or forbidden knowledge' because I walked in on a roommate breaking some laws with his girlfriend on it. That couch was given to me by my other, damn it. I've no idea why this loop is titled the way it is.
DEEPER THROAT: A pretty auburn haired lady comes up to a class entrance and knocks. Who lets her in? John Holmes at his greasiest. She makes a phone call, to who we'll never know, and he brings them some drinks. From there, she goes to the bathroom and he spies on her through the keyhole. Behind closed doors she feels safe enough for some self pleasure while his voyeuristic tendencies inspire him to do the same. She catches him outside the door and isn't in the least bit upset, in fact she takes him to the other room and goes down… pretty much all the way down. And given who we're talking about here? That's quite and accomplishment. She rides him and he taps it from a few different angles before shooting into her mouth. John's hair is greasy and curly here and he's got a really dirty goatee. He needs to be hosed down.
COME ON MY EGGS: A blonde toils away in the kitchen while a shaggy dude drinks coffee in the living room. She brings in some eggs and for some reason this gets him in the mood. She sucks his fingers and he fondles her. Cue the requisite oral high jinks and then, surprisingly, she slobbers all over his feet! He plays with her b-hole and then it's time for some backdoor action, leading to some DP courtesy of the shaggy and a well placed sex toy. She sucks him off and he comes onto her eggs… literally. At least we know where this loop got its title! After that, she decides it's time for breakfast. Her front teeth are really big.
FRIENDS AND LOVERS: Some used car salesmen has got his face buried between the love mounds of Ms. Annie Sprinkle, who seems reasonably amused by all of this. He takes his pants down and she eventually sheds her duds so that they can give one another some oral pleasure. This goes on for a while and then it's time for doggy style action, after which they go at it from a few other angles. From there, those mounds of joy become the object of his divining wand's affection, before she rides him some more and he makes a mess everywhere. Annie and all her many delicious curves looks great here even if the loop is pretty standard.
IT TAKES A THIEF: A dark haired lady is hanging out in a bedroom clad in jungle style wallpaper while a creepy John Holmes peers at her from around a curtain. Not sure how she doesn't see him, but she doesn't see him. She plays with herself and then when she does spy him, he pulls a gun on her and forces her to do his horny bidding. With a smile on her face (she's not convincing as a woman in peril) she does just that. Eventually he realizes it's as important to give as it is to receive and so he and his crazy hair (it's really crazy) go down and then hone her being careful not to smack her head off of the huge yellow dresser behind her.
JAILHOUSE FUCK: This one has a title card! A foxy dark haired beauty behind bars is getting chowed upon by an auburn haired pal when two dudes and a lady cop walk in on them. They punish the ladies with a caning and then force the girls to go down on the guys. The lady cop busts out her riding crop and uses it on one of the prisoners and then they more or less have an orgy.
ONE HUNG LOW: Hey wow, Lisa DeLeeuw is making out with a dark haired chick. They're in bed dolled up in their finest slinky things, and they make out before going down on one another. But then… a dude shows up! So they bang him and he seems pretty stoked about it all. Hard to blame him for that, even if the art on the walls in whoever's bedroom this is happens to be horrible!
UNTITLED: This one follows a black chick, possibly a maid, as she feather dusts a white dude hanging out in a bedroom. He gets her clothes off without too much effort and they screw. Then… surprise! An Asian chick appears out of nowhere and joins in. She seems more interested in the black chick than the white guy but there's no shame in that. After homeboy takes some pictures it's three way time. The end!
SPICE OF LIFE: This one starts in the middle of something, one dude boning a chick down below and another up top. From there, the two dudes take turns fondling and fucking this fine filly while she opens up her three canals of love to them. Then, just as it looks like it's done and it's time to admire the art on the walls, another chick shows up and everyone pees on the first chick. SHAZAM!
NURSE'S AID: This one also has a title card. Rad. Two nurses talk and giggle and then approach a hung patient who looks an awful lot like Marc Stevens. The ladies fondle him and one another and soon a doctor shows up just in the middle of their lesbian love making. He gets in on the action himself and the girls take turns on him, never bothering to take off their hats until the last minute or two.
LESBIAN LOVERS: Not too surprisingly, this one shows two lesbian lovers loving each other lesbianingly. They start by making out, then they take off their clothes and then the lesbian lovers make lesbian love. It's pretty rad. The one girl has cool black stockings on and the other some fishnets. They even bust out a dildo thing later on that pumps out fake jizz into their mouths…. which isn't very lesbiany when you think about it. Neither is the strap-on for that matter.
LADIES OF LESBOS: This loop features a whole bunch of ladies going down on one aother and fingering one another. They're completely nude and in the act when we first meet them and this quartet of cuties stay that way for the duration. Lots of licking of various orifices and some seriously crazy ornate wall paper going on in the background of this bedroom. One of the girls has really red feet for some reason.
DILDO HEAVEN: There are a lot of questions about dildo heaven. Who lives in dildo heaven? A white chick and a black chick. What do they do in dildo heaven? They look at porn magazines together. What happens when they look at porn together? They get horny. If you get horny in dildo heaven do you get to use dildos? Well first you have to lick the girls in the magazines and then the chick you're in bed with, but yeah, sometimes after that you strip and then you get to use dildos. You get to have a lot of oral sex too. That's how it plays out in dildo heaven.
AFTERNOON DILDO PARTY: As it turns out, an afternoon dildo party is kinda like dildo heaven. When you show up in your slinky lingerie you make out with another chick, two white broads in this case, and after a lot of tongue kissing and boobie groping out pop the dildos, all of which want to party. For maximum dildo party power make sure you have shiny red pillows on the bed and that the bed is set against weird red and purple wallpaper. Then kiss your fellow dildo partygoer and wait for the inappropriately sudden edit to signal the end of the party.
WET AND WILD: Last but not least, two ladies are dolled up to look younger than they are as they play with a ping pong ball poolside. Somehow the ball winds up between the legs of the one girl and the other has to go get it - and so she does. This leads exactly where you expect it to and then they strip and have lesbian sex or both the oral and manual variety. That ping pong ball ever does show up, it must have been lost somewhere along the way.
Video/Audio/Extras:
Each of the 8mm loops on this disc are presented in their original 1.33.1 fullframe aspect ratio and transferred from film. They haven't been fully restored so expect a fair bit of print damage and plenty of visible scratches but that doesn't really detract from the experience much. Colors are faded and black levels all over the place but if the elements are in rough shape, at least the disc is well authored and not plagued by compression artifacts or edge enhancement problems.
The audio is on par with the video, sort of. This stuff was shot without sound, so really we just the 'click' of a projector in terms of audio, there's really not much to write about here.
Extras? Nope. You get a menu and loop selection but that's it. Inside the case, however, you will discover a booklet of liner notes from Cinema Sewer's Robin Bougie that elaborate on the importance of the 8mm format and it's respective place in dirty movie history.
The Final Word:
42nd Street Forever: The Peepshow Collection is a pretty decent collection of 8mm smut. The presentation won't win any awards but it looks fine for what it is and as to the content itself? While your mileage may vary if you have any interest in vintage smut this is worth checking out.
