    Released by: Dark Horse Comics
    Released on: March 26, 2014

Cady Lark, former public disgrace of a child actor turned world's first superhero, is still working this whole new thing out. The story begins with her father's last night on Earth, her 21st birthday, when he killed himself and left behind just a note saying that she deserved better. He literally goes out in a blaze and that's going to inform the present story.

Cady just wants some peaceful satisfaction, like helping someone in trouble without harming anyone. Spying a bonfire atop a building she thinks she's found her opportunity. The guy is yelling about getting help for his sick wife from Cady-as-Furious and leads her to his ailing bride through a maze of garbage to do so. Too late, though, she realizes the trap for what is is and that this man, Andrew Bales, is actually a misogynistic psychopath who intends to burn her alive.

But she's trapped, her fury unable to get past her raw, naked fear - and the fact that her father burned himself to death in an exploding car. She manages to get out from underneath the garbage crushing her but then Bales takes his bat and fists to her, plentifully. However, what neither of them know is that her fury-based power can absorb the same and so Bales' punches repower her and it's suddenly Furious who has the upper hand. However, she stops short of beating him to death or leaving him to burn alive. She takes him to the waiting police and firefighters outside, trying to leave quickly but getting a heartfelt “thank you” from one of the female firefighters and making her feel all special.

That's clearly not going to last, though, as her doppleganger that's also similarly powered enters a small shop, has the guard and shopkeep comment on how much she appears to be like Furious/Cady, and then announces her name as Perfidia. The story ends with her swigging from a bottle of booze across their bloody corpses, grinning for the non-existent cameras…

The story here from Bryan J.L. Glass is a little contrived but gets the character to explore her inner workings a bit more fundamentally - so, overall, the story is aided and moved forward. Victor Santos gets to have a blast with the artwork, getting all sorts of action-y scenes to play with and he makes the most of it, making this a very enjoyable read.
