Women are drafted into the German Armed forces to fight alongside the men, well…actually porking the men, to in the hopes of boosting the team's morale. That team being the Nazis in World War II. A doctor recruited by the Nazis is forced to examine the women to deem them fit for “dutyâ€, but in order to keep his daughters out of harm's way he lies about their physical conditions. He gets caught of course, is sent to the front line, and then his daughters are drafted into service anyway. Looks like his plan failed. Now all three of them are screwed (or going to be).
So as time ticks on, eventually one of his daughters is being held captive in a little village with a slew of other hot naked German ladies, and the village is about to be attacked. But get this: it's not by the Russians, but by the father's own battalion is going to attack the village. How about that? Didn't see that one coming did you? Such intrigue and war-torn drama takes place all the while incredibly naked women are filling the screen. This movie has TONS of skin in it, which is really the only thing that makes this one worth watching. Take the nudity out and it's a pretty weak war drama.
To call this one Nazisploitation may not necessarily be true. The back of the box says “Probably one of the weirdest Nazisploitation movies I've ever seen!†(but the quote isn't credited to anyone) and there's a good reason for that. It lacks the meanness and the violence of what we expect from a film under that genre label. This plays out like a slick looking softcore sex romp that just so happens to take place in World War II and in the Nazi army, but that's about as Nazi-exploitive as it get. Another fact that sort of takes it out of the genre is that Germans made it, and it portrays the Nazis like any war film made in the U.S. would portray Roosevelt or Patton. It never goes into the Nazi nastiness that's expected from a Nazisploitation flick.
So, don't expect anything even remotely similar to the Ilsa movies or SS Hell Camp or you'll be sorely disappointed. What can you expect? A nicely photographed movie with a pretty dumb story, but filled with copious amounts of female flesh and even some half-decent battle scenes. It's a bit long and drags at times, but the sleaze quotient is high which should make the movie a success amongst the pervs and midnight movie fans. And it's from the man who directed Girls Without Lovers and Rolls-Royce Baby, and produced Mad Foxes and Barbed-Wire Dolls. What other reason does anyone need to give it a whirl?

Frauleins In Uniform arrives on Blu-ray in AVC encoded 1080p high definition presentation, framed at 1.78.1 widescreen, is a nice upgrade over that release. Any print damage that pops up is minor, you may not the occasional speck or a minor scratch here and there, and overall the elements used for the transfer were in excellent shape. You could even say they were pristine. Detail is really strong here and colors are nice and bold without looking unnatural. There are no problems with compression artifacts or edge enhancement issues and print damage is almost completely absent, though a welcome bit of grain pops up from time to time. The ever important flesh tones look nice and natural, never waxy, and the reds in the Nazi flags in the backgrounds of various scenes are bold, brash and bright but not oversaturated. This looks really good in HD, a serious improvement over the previous DVD release.
Audio options are provided in German, English, Italian and French language DTS-HD 2.0 Mono options. There are no subtitles of any kind provided. The clarity of the English track is pretty solid. Levels are nicely balanced, dialogue is clear and there aren't really any problems here, it sounds fine. It's a shame that no English subs were provided for the other audio options, as nobody here is speaking English and the dubbing is obvious, but most won't mind so much. The clarity here is certainly sufficient.
The main extra on the disc is a commentary track with Erwin C. Dietrich and film historian Uwe Huber, in German with no subtitles. The disc also includes a featurette entitled Achtung! Interview Mit Darstellerin Birgit Bergen. It runs just over thirteen minutes but it's in German with no subtitles, sadly. We also get a trailer for the feature and a still gallery as well as a 'trailer show' that includes promo spots for ten Ascot Elite titles including Kommando Leopard, Der Commander and a few other vintage titles. Menus and chapter selction are included and a few trailers for some unrelated Ascot Elite Blu-ray properties play before the main menu loads.
The Final Word:
Frauleins In Uniform is a whole lot of sexy, stupid fun. It's 'Nazisploitation Light' in a lot of ways but that's okay. It offers up an amusing story, a few solid action set pieces and loads upon loads of lovely naked ladies. And really, it's the lovely naked that sell this one, but they sell it well. The Blu-ray release from Ascot-Elite, which is region free, is a big improvement over the DVD release, though it's a shame that the extras don't have English subtitles.
