Tim Truman and Tomas Giorello continue their fantastic adaptation of Robert E. Howard's only Conan novel “The Hour of the Dragon”, this miniseries being the second half of the story. The first half was told last year in King Conan: The Hour of the Dragon”. King Conan is white-haired and on in years, and is telling his tale to a scribe named Pramis so that he may record it for the ages. They have made their way to the tomb that is being built to honor Conan; even though he makes it very clear he is not to be buried there. Where were they in the story? Oh yeah…

Conan and his re-found alliance with The Black Corsairs, a band of pirates he used to run with back in the day, make their way to the city of Khemi in pursuit of a gem-thief priest, who turns out to be a priest of Set, and that is not a friendly god This priest's name is Thutothmes, and his plan is to kill the head of the Set Priests, Thoth-Amon, a name Conan knew too well. That stolen gem is t he key to make Thutothmes' plan succeed.

Disguised as a Set Priest, Conan follows them into their evil temple with no apparent plan (like Conan needs one). Plans are for fools, since things rarely go as planned, and someone Conan probably wouldn't have thought in a million years would show up. Not really sure what this person wants, but she is one fine comic book mama.

Truman and Giorello know Conan, and they prove it by capturing the essence of a Conan tale perfectly in this format. Truman has a knack with dialogue and his story goes along at a great pace, not too quick, and not drawn out. He writes Conan as a man full of bravado and even a bit of humor. You don't have to be a big Conan fan to appreciate or follow his adaptation, but if you are a big fan, this should be pleasing. Giorello keeps on impressing with his version of Conan and holy shit, that last panel…hubba hubba…the man can 100 percent draw the ladies to look so fine.
