Serial killer Thomas Parnell is gaining more and more control over Skynet's robot army but, as he does so, Skynet's consciousness is beginning to wonder how stable he might not be. Much of this issue focuses on the dialog between human Dr. Kogan, the turncoat specialist at cyborg science, and Skynet.

Meanwhile, Connor and his forces boot up their own T-800 and send him back in time, aligning with the events of the second movie. After that, though, Connor knows that anything is now, finally, possible. Previously, they'd obviously won the war but, now, with the Terminators being fueled by Parnell's psychosis, they're being seriously decimated. But Connor knows that the next few hours are truly unwritten, that the events are transpiring slightly different than they had “before.” He feels truly free at this moment, finally able to make his own future.

Kogan and Skynet get more in depth with their discussion, with the doctor revealing that there might not be any end to Parnell's lust for destruction. This, clearly, means not just the end of the human resistance but likely also the end of Skynet as well. But before they can reach any consensus on what should be done Parnell confronts Kogan, wondering why there's some kind of limiter placed on the amount of control he can have. He threatens her so she opens it up with the password but then limits it with another. Parnell is non-plussed, threatening to take over everything.

Upon hearing that, then, the Skynet consciousness confirms that Parnell is going to have to be stopped. So, at Kogan's insistence, they launch “Option Beta,” which apparently activates another cyborg, one from the past with no small level of significance to the Salvation storyline…

    J. Michael Straczynski moves the story ahead quite nicely here at the halfway point of this series. The possibilities seem to be quite open now and not nearly as scripted for these future battles as they once were. That, in turn, makes this entry a fun read on its own. Pete Woods' artwork continues to be top-notch as well here.
