“Not the Bullet, But the Fall” part Five…after last issue's action a number of the members of Drake Sinclair and Becky Montcrief's party are missing, presumed dead, and the remaining members are on the run, being forced to flee Brimstone. Drake's nemesis Jesup is after them for the guns under orders from the Grey Witch, and he's already got one. Nidawi is in bad shape after being injured in last issue's gun battle, but her necklace, the shrunken head of the powerful Indian shaman Screaming Crow, says he can help her. But the others have to make a run for it and leave her.

Still on the run, one gets caught; one seeks help from an unexpected person in an unexpected way. But they find one another and the sixth gun gets used in a way never seen before, which buys them some time to get away. Screaming Crow rears his shrunken head again and gives everyone a swimming lesson, but in the end things still don't go their way. Jesup could very well be on his way to getting all six guns, and that could cause the end of the world as they all know it.

Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt have put out another great issue, as this series hurls toward the end of this arc. This is solid supernatural adventure material with a cast of some well-developed characters and an attractive art style that produces some good violent imagery. Some good creatures too, and nice 2-page spreads. This issue doesn't give up much information concerning the deepening and mysterious back story of Drake, but Becky's command of the sixth and most powerful gun has jumped to a new level. The action flows really well and there's a great balance between the high energy moments and the lower-key dialogue heavy moments. This book has yet to outstay its welcome after 40 issues, and is highly recommended to fans of supernatural old west style stuff. Make sure this one gets added to your regular reading regiment.
