Still within the walls of The House of Glass, Geralt the Witcher and his newfound friend Jakob continue to look for the un-dead Marta. They've picked up an new person in their ranks, the succubus Vara, but she isn't much help. Last issue she left Geralt to die in the basement, which was full of cursed madman monster things. She claims to have not known they were in there, but there's something more going on with her. She's up to something other than her just being bored (something she makes perfectly clear that she is). And her interest in The Witcher's sex drive certainly raises some questions.

Jakob shares some history with Geralt and Vara, giving the story of how he and his wife met when she was but a child. The walk down Memory Lane re-triggered Jakob's intense desire to find her in the house, and off he goes. Seizing the moment, Vara shows Geralt some more mysteries in the house, such as the stained glass mysteriously changing but no one is ever seen changing it. Her tour leads them right to a leshen, a creature from the first issue that looks as though it is made up of animal bones and pelts.

The Witcher continues to entertain, but there's nothing ground-breaking or all too original here. Good characterization though, as Geralt and Jakob are both pretty likeable chaps. Querio's artwork really shines with his depiction of monsters and dead things, and this book has lots of those. There's plenty sword swinging and magic slapping action top behold, and although the story is incredibly formulaic, the two creators do a fine job of keeping the reader's interest. It's a decent yarn, although Conan the Barbarian has done this stuff a zillion times. Worth reading? Absolutely, so long as you're not looking for a landscape-changing comic book.
