  • Intimate Diary Of Mr. Leon “Spanking Professor”, The

    Released by: Alpha France/TLA Video
    Released on: June, 2014.
    Director: Burd Tranbaree
Cast: Ellen Earl, Emmanuelle Parez, Antoine Fontaine, Martine Grimaud
    Year: 1976
    Purchase From TLA Video

    The Movie:

Directed by prolific French adult film director Claude Bernard-Aubert (credited as Burd Tranbaree), the 1976 Alpha France production “La fessée ou Les mémoires de monsieur Léon maí®tre-fesseur” introduces us to the titular Mr. Leon, a tall skinny guy who spends his days working as a teller at a Parisian bank. When his day is over, he stops at the local grocery and buys a baguette from pretty Huguette before heading back to his apartment. Once there, the phone rings. He hops onto his motorcycle and whisks away through the streets of the city of love and heads up into a woman's apartment and promptly gives her a thorough spanking.

From here we learn of his past, how his mother spanked him as an infant (the infant version of Mr. Leon is played by a doll and an obvious doll at that!) and then, well, took care of him as he got older. The one and only time he ever used spanking against someone else was when he found a girl he was sweet on, Elisabeth (Corinne Lemoine), with a mouthful of the gardener but when he put his hand to her behind, she liked it so much she jumped his bones. This leads to his interest in the art, which in the present day he has obviously perfected.

From here the movie goes on to demonstrate his effectiveness as he takes calls from various women who pay him for his services. When he gets coerced into giving Huguette a demonstration, she loves the way it feels and soon joins on as his manager, secretary, switchboard operator and personal gourmet cook! From here we see the wonders that a good spanking does for cranky female business women, mouthy young feminist types and even the frigid wife (Emmanuelle Parez) of his boss at the bank!

This is more a series of silly but admittedly enjoyable and frequently very sexy vignettes in which traditional foreplay is replaced by Leon's special skills before he and whichever lucky lady he's pleasuring at any given time drop trou and get it on. The women tend to be enthusiastic and attractive, which makes this visually appealing, but the movie throws in just enough quirky moments and bizarre set pieces to make it more than just an asstastic seventy-five minute slap fest. One of the highlights of the movie is when Leon sits fully clothed on his chair in an ornate room while a veritable army of beauties parades around him in a circle, moving together in vaguely choreographed dance moves. As they do this, he describes right to the viewer the type of ass each woman has, naming an 'apple bottom' and a 'pear shaped ass' and pointing out a 'flat ass' and warning us to stay away from 'tear shaped ass' because it makes him sad. And then, of course, there's his obvious enthusiasm for the 'super ass' - the man has impeccable taste! The whole sequence is insane but it's shot with such style and class that it almost feels like it was lifted from an old musical or something.

    Video/Audio/Extras:

TLA Video, through a deal with Alpha France, presents The Intimate Diary Of Mr. Leon “Spanking Professor” on MOD/DVD-R in 1.33.1 fullframe, which would appear to be the movie's original aspect ratio. The image is a little soft but stable enough. Colors look okay, skin tones look appropriately fleshy (and red when they should!) and black levels are decent. There are times where some minor compression artifacts pop up but otherwise this is a decent enough presentation even if it isn't going to blow you away.

The only audio option on the disc is an English language Dolby Digital Mono track. It would have been cool to see both the English and French tracks provided as the dubbing here is painfully obvious, but then, that adds to the movie's considerable charms in its own goofy way. Dialogue is occasionally a bit muffled but more often than not it's pretty clear and the score sounds alright.

There are no extras on this disc. The packaging mentions that it includes a seventy-two minute explicit version and an eighty-four minute erotic version but only the explicit version is actually on the DVD-R.

    The Final Word:

The Intimate Diary Of Mr. Leon “Spanking Professor” is a slaptastic piece of seventies smut played with a wink and a smile and shot with plenty of quirky style. The cast are all game and the spanking surprisingly convincing but never to the point where it feels mean spirited or nasty. This one is a lot of fun.

The uncut version is the 84 min release. Alpha France seems to have hacked up a lot of their films. Hopefully the hatchet job was only done to the tape materials rather than the negatives.

Any idea what's missing? This cut is definitely explicit.
