    Sex Criminals #6
    Released by: Image Comics
    Released on: June 18th, 2014.

We may not have had a new issue since March, but fuck yeah does absence ever make the heart grow fonder when it comes to Image Comics' Sex Criminals. Once again brought to you by the team of writer Matt Fraction and illustrator Chip Zdarksy, this issue picks up where the last issue left off. Suzie's narration explains how they decided to 'run like Hell and stopped having sex and robbing banks' but soon stopped worrying about the Sex Police. When Suzie heads off to a fundraiser to raise the rest of the cash they need to save the library, however, Jon, looking unusually grey in color, drops his pants to reveal that his dong is long gone, telling us that he doesn't even care. Wait a minute…. What?

Flashbacks show us how they split for their pad and screwed, as they often do, only for Jon to hear a 'bloop' noise in the middle of the good stuff. Turns out they were being tracked, they've recovered a device that 'bloops' when someone cums. And they tend to cum a lot, or at least they used to. Is the spark between our two heroes starting to fade? When Jon comes face to face with one of the 'officers' at the bank he stops eating, stops sleeping and becomes increasingly paranoid that he's being followed constantly. His stress gets so bad he gets shingles but his paranoia convinces him he has cancer and AIDS.

So Suzie tries to help, as anyone who cared about someone else would probably do in her situation. The old Jon is still there, he's into yoga pants and appreciative of the extent that the Ass Illuminati has gone to in order to mainstream them, but he's far from 100%. He goes back on his meds and she throws herself into her work but when the bank says 'nope' and moves to foreclose, Jon realizes that there are a lot more players here than he first thought.

Twisted, kinky and flat out bizarre, this latest issue of Sex Criminals continues to build an extra layer on what came before it. The possibilities are endless here and it's pretty damned impossible to figure out where this one is going but the mix of humor, intrigue and dare I say it, yes, tenderness that has developed between the different characters here keeps this series ridiculously engaging. Fraction continues to show a real flair for dialogue that is both witty and revealing, able to focus on the little things that make his characters interesting while at the same time delivering some genuinely funny quips while all the while adding layer after layer to the mystery that is obviously developing here. This is complimented very nicely once again by Zdarksy's art, showcasing a style that is cartoony enough to embrace the humor in the script but realistic enough to help us believe that, no matter what, these characters are human.

Three months was a long wait for this one but it was worth it. Bring on issue #7, because at this point in time it's anyone's guess what's going to happen.
