Vampirella #5

The lovely Vampirella's quest for rare vampire blood has led her all over the globe along with her unlikely ally, a nosferatu who calls himself Drago. In Southeast Asia she drank a Krasue; on a Greek island she drank a Lamia; now it's off to Serbia to find herself a Leptricia. But she's not the only one seeking the creature. An etymologist from Belgrade has made his way to the same location to find the elusive and perhaps non-existent Graveyard Moth. He of course hasn't any idea that the moth is anything more than a moth. They all meet up in a graveyard and action ensues.
But the issue doesn't end there. Drago lets Vampi in on a little secret of his which puts the sexy raven-haired lady on what would appear to be her final mission. This one is a bit tougher than the others and someone will benefit a great deal from this next hopeful (expected) victory, and it isn't Vampirella. She'd better hurry up too, because Umbra is starting to take over and there isn't much time to be dicking around with that goofy looking, buck-toothed, purple blood-sucker she's been slumming with.
Ms. Collins' writing continues to propel this tale on its path at a really tight pace and gives lots of room for monsters and bloodshed, as well as a bit of sleaze thrown in there for good measure. Great dialogue and a story that maintains a high level of interest, combined with an art team that delivers a look that fits Vampirella and her exploits perfectly…that's what this series is so far. Every issue has been a great romp and unless something changes there would appear to be no near-ending of this monthly treat. This is some really fine Vampirella story telling that really shouldn't be missed.Posting comments is disabled.
