The house patriarch, Frederick, gives some thought about his former partner in monster hunting and a case they worked. It seems Lucas had come down with something, which seems to be the very thing that made them no longer partners. More on that later we can suppose, but not this issue. Lucas does make an appearance, but it's just a quick meeting with a fellow named Merle. Save that one for later too it would seem. Right now Frederick has to deal with his kids and the ghost they captured.
Geoff and Vivian just want to impress their dad and follow in his footsteps, and become even more intrigued with the ghost they caught once Frederick lets it loose. The ghost seems to know him and makes a b-line for his throat. A mirror fixes that, and dinner gets interrupted by a phone call concerning their mother. The missing Deloris was attacked, and in her hospital bed she gives Frederick a clue as to who attacked her. He knows that person, and the kids aren't happy with being left in the dark; lots of dark.
Continuing the excellent storytelling and artwork, Niles and Worm deepen the mystery and are setting the table for something you know is going to be nothing short of awesome. Worms' color are even more appealing in this issue than the last, more so in the last couple of pages than anywhere else in the book. His use of purple gives a sense of trouble on the horizon for one or more of the Allan family, on top of just being a nice couple of pages to gawk at and drink up. Things are going to get bad for the clan, and you'd best get on this title before it gets away from you. Recommended for anyone looking for something off the beaten path or just looking for horror comics different than zombies and vampires.
